SOURCE: 99 silverado 2500, what is the correct size torx

The correct size is a T55, which is NOT included in the 3 bit brake set sold at Sears. Fortunately I got the larger set. A note to all you mechanics out there - brake caliper bolts do NOT need the tightness that only 3 gorillas can provide. Yes, they do need to be tight but not to the extent that one is breaking bits to free the bolt - and no, it was not due to rust. And why on earth are there torx head bolts on the Chevy anyway? I will go back to Ford if I ever get the chance!

What tools do i need to remove rear brake pads on 95 cadillac deville?

You say pads, so I assume that you have rear disk brakes. The only special tool you will need is one to compress the rear calipers. Here is an image of the tool that is available at most all auto part stores.

What size allen wrench to remove front brake caliper

i just changed my front rotors and pads on my 2001 escape, 6 cylinder. everyone was wrong on the wrench sizes, including the idiots at my local ford dealer. to get the brake calipers off I needed a 7mm hex bit. to get the caliper bracket off I needed an 18mm socket, it was a very easy job but check your wrench sizes first, it seems that every year and model uses different sizes.

unlike the front pads the rear pads are held in by a ratcheting caliper. You need to turn the inset screw to loosen the caliper up so it can be removed. The thick coiled spring is the most difficult part to remove and reinstall

first raise and safely support vehicle remove the wheels remove the spring from the caliper(pry under the spring where it goes into the caliper be careful don't let it fly) locate the two torx bolts holding the caliper to the bracket remove them using the proper size bit remove the caliper by prying it away from the bracket remove the pads by pulling strait out remove the two bolts holding the bracket to the steering knukle(very tight) remove the rotor install is the reverse of removal torque specs are as follows wheels 80-100ftlbs caliper bolts 40ftlbs bracket bolts 90 ftlbs

Left front brake caliper hanging up on 1991 Cadillac Deville.

Flex line at caliper (hose) will cause that as well, even if it looks good from outside, they tend to collapse inside & restrict flow causing caliper to hang up.
