Question about 2000 Renault 181
Locked renault clio 2001 1.4 16v si cd/radio player!
My car battery went flat, when it was recharged the cd player/radio asked for a code, i was given one by the garage that i purchased it from, however this code didn't work as it was for the original car cd player/radio, the previous owner would of replaced it and because of this i haven't got the code. I tried to key the number in from the garage a few times and then it locked, now it wont even let me put a code in. Is there any way of unlocking this myself so i can then enter a code i have found over the internet. I dont want to pay £20 for unlocking my own car cd/radio player. Would be great if you could help me please!
When inputting the code, i can be done using the numbers on the radio. Numbers 1 to 4 change the number of the corresponding digit position on the screen, then holding down 6 for approximately 3 seconds will enter the code, confirming with a sound.

Renuault espace audio steering controller with not change over from radio to CD. works all the radio channels and the volume but will not even reconise the CD player. CD player has power going to it and takes all the disks but will not play through the radio. would be great if you could help. cheers.

You have to enter the radio code through the steering wheel controls. The code should be on the inside front page of your service book. I took mine to the Renault dealer and the lady showed me how to put the code in. If you've lost the code or never had it then they'll charge you £15.

What happen at some time or another your engine got hot, now the head gasket is damage and letting water go where it should'nt. The only fix for this is to have your head gasket replace and the cylinder head check for crack's and resurfic, also they'll need to fine out why it over heated in the first place . Good luck

SOURCE: battery problem
sounds like there is a dodgy earth or have you had a new stereo/electrical equipment fitted? could be that there is a fault in the electrics causing the power to drain, wouldnt say that it was the immobiliser though.

If at all times you have good battery power a common solution is the crankshart senor. A quick test is to remove the plug from the sensor or just try to move it about. The best solution is to replace the crankshaft sensor And replacing the plug at the same time. the sensor is located at the top of the gearbox & is held by two ten mil headed studs.

You need to remove the air box on top of the engine to get access, then pull the ignition leads up and out of the sleeve. You will need a deep 14mm 3/8 drive socket and long extension ( the sleeve is 20mm wide and the socket from halfords just fits ) to unscrew the plug and then a magnet on a stick to retrieve the spark plug
