Is the 2002 hyaundai santefe a zero tolerance motor

The 2002 Santa Fe 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines are deemed "Interference" engines. If the timing belt should break or slip a few teeth, the pistons will strike the valves and most likely destroy the engine. Thus it is very important to change the timing belt every 80,000 - 100,000 miles (along with a replacement water pump). I recommend buying a belt/pump kit and having a local independent shop do the install (much cheaper than a dealer's $600 charge!).

Belt & pump kits are available via Amazon:

Starting in 207 Hyundai started shifting all of their engines to metal timing "chains"... more or less eliminating the possibility of such a problem. However, water pumps still go out... but not nearly as often or catastrophic a problem!

Every 100,000 miles or so you need to change the timing belt as it is the cornerstone to the engine. If the timing belt fails, and your engine is an interference engine, it can make the valves smash into the pistons which will need a full rebuild ($$$$) or replacement.

Don't scrimp on the timing belt, get one direct from Honda or at the very least a very good blueprint. A few hundred dollars getting a new one and installing it will save thousands in case it breaks.

Because maintenance is better than repairs, But I don't want to waste $$$, I have four questions: Does a 1998 Ford Escort need to have the Power Steering Fluid replaced? If my Serpentine Drive Belt...

power steering leave alone ,change fan belt ,fit a complete rear brake overhaul kit its cheaper now brake fluid depends on climate ,northern wet climes 3/4 years desert conditions with 3 days rain a year ?? never only when renewing cylinders or fitting new pads undo bleed nipple and when pushing pistons in waste that fluid and top up with new

When is timing belt supposed to be changed?

2006 Saturn Vue with a 3.5L engine V-6, Saturn recommends replacing timing belt every 100,000 miles, also replace water pump, due to it is timing belt driven, this is an interference engine which piston to valve damage will occur in the event of timing belt failure.Hope this was very helpful.

When should a timing belt be replaced on a 2033 Kia Sorento w/ 3.5L engine?

Timing belt replacement is expensive. Usually nobody chooses to have it done, unless there a timing cover gasket fails, or some other reason to work in the area of the internal timing belt.

If you are speaking of the serpentine belt, every 45-60k.

I have a 2005 Aveo need to know when we need to get a "tune up" is it for 100,000 miles??

1st tune up is 100,000 miles, but there are other things that need attention then as well such as the timing belt which is far more important, also the cooling system hoses and coolant should be replaced, spark plugs will not strand you, a timing belt and overheated engine will.

Timing Chain Interval

If you have a chain, there is NO replacement interval. ALL 4 cylinder Highlanders have timing chains.
