Question about 2004 Chevrolet Malibu
Your idle air control valve may be gummed up with deposits. If you are able to keep the engine running with your foot holding the gas pedal down a bit while you crank, then this may be your problem. Remove the valve and clean with spray carb cleaner and spray out the bore as well. Clean throttle plate too. I hope this info helps.
