Remove the starter and either replace the bendix or the starter complete.

2002 mazda 626 new starter wont engage flywheel. it sounds like starter is spining wont engage flywheel

Couple possibilities. Was the starter just replaced? If so. Were their any shims (small metal pieces) that were not put back? They space the starter so the bendix and gear can align with fly wheel.. secondly could be a bad starter, broke bendix. Bad gear..or third missing teeth on either fly wheel or starter..

Have2002 honda accord starters new but wont turn flywheel flywheel teeth looks ok but wont start?

a mechanic knows the difference between cranking/turning over and starting
you say that the flywheel is not turning so obviously it will not start
now you have to tell us if the starter pinion is engaging in the flywheel teeth but the starter is not cranking the engine --indicates that the engine is seized up
now it it is an automatic , there is a possibility that the flex plate ( automatics do not have flywheels )) is broken and the teeth are no longer in a position to mesh with the pinion gear

I have replaced solenoid and starter and still starter makes noise but doesent engage the flywheel why

Sometimes the starter has to be shimmed to engage the ring gear of the flywheel

Starter wont engage

either the starter is not kicking out its gear to meet the flywheel or the flywheel has missing teeth. either way the next step is to remove the starter so it can be tested outside of the vehicle and the flywheel can be looked at through the hole where the starter sat.

Wont start. Starter tries to engage but theres a "whirring" noise instead of the car starting

Sounds like starter solenoid is failing to kick in. The whirring is most likely the starter motor turning, but the teeth aren't engaging on the flywheel ring gear due to failed solenoid.

Turn switch on and all the lights work but the starter wont engage

If the starter wont turn...Id check / replace starter solonoid.
If the starter turns but doesn't engage the flywheel...I'd check / replace the bendix.
If starter checks good and bendix is good...I'd look at the teeth on the flywheel.

Hope this helps...

Wont start or even turn and has a new engine

could be a number of things check battery first to see if there is power at the battery then check power at starter if that is okay then see if you can hear the starter engaging. if there is unusual noise then the starter may now be engaging with the flywheel correctly do to either bad teeth on starter or a warped flywheel. if the flywheel is new also don't let that fool you Ive seen new flywheels be warped many times but with out seeing the vehicle this is all i can come up with if the motor is not turning hope it helps

My 00 impala 3.4 doesnt start.i took the starter off and checked it out but its fine. when the key turns the starter spins but wont engage with the motor.i have a brand new battery, all cables are connected...

Does the starter kick out and spin normally out of the car? Have you checked the condition of the flywheel? Ususally the starter doesnt turn until the solenoid kicks the gear out to engage the flywheel. Check if the gear on the starter is bad, it should slip one way, and not the other.
