The horn on my 2006 Nissan Murano works only when the steering wheel is turned either direction, even if only a few degrees. When the steering is centered or near centered it does not work.

Its a short in the wiring. Its a wiring issue. You'd need to take of the covers above and below the steering wheel. Just get the horn wiring removed and reconnected. If its getting disconnected at when you center the steering wheel then the wire has to be connected. The horn contacts in the steering wheel became corroded. This is a common issue caused in many cars. The horn connections become lose or get pulled out due to removing the horn connections/cleaning and reconnecting the connection helps.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Can someone in SG recommend me a good mechanic to fix my Murano stiff steering wheel

I would recommend that you find an accredited steering specialist shop rather than try to find a general mechanic as good well trained mechanics are hard to find.

Nissan murano steering wheel stiff

We had the same problem with our 2007 Murano. However, the steering assembly (Box) actually broke and flipped upside down. This caused the car to turn sharp to the right and hit the cub while turning. Nissan said we caused the damage when we hit the cub and refused to pay for the damages. Look into the steering assembly before you also have an accident. Our insurance went up $20 a month.

Car horn not working

A mechanic would check for power at the horn relay and then at the horn. Could be the horn pad on the steering wheel or the relay or the horn.

2006 Subaru Outback horn will not blow in center position but will blow if wheel is rotated to either side approx. 45 degrees. Horn will blow if rotated 360 degrees from centered position

There is a "clock spring" that allows current to get from your horn button, through the steering wheel. Due to the spinning of the steerring wheel. This is a wound up flex circuit, and they can break. Sounds like yours has an issue. It's located behind the steering wheel and air bag.

Check your fuse first. Then check the wires at the horn itself. If they look ok then remove the wires and the horn.Get two wires and check the horn from the pos and groung on the battery if that does not work then your horn is at fault.

I have a 2006 Nissan Murano SL AWD, done 113k km. I had a steering fluid leak few weeks back.Nissan dealer diagnosed it as pressure hose leak.Options were to replace the hose ($ 750) or have it repaired by...

Sometimes air gets into the power steering system, and can cause noises.

often, the technician that installed the hose, could ensure all the air is out, by having the car up off the ground, and turning the steering full left and full right, while bleeding the system, as well as making sure that it has 100% fresh fluid too.
