Question about Mazda Millenia

The car has recently dripping radiator fluid and now when I turn on the heat air is blown but not hot air. The car is not over heating so I dont think the thermostat is bad

    It recently went out for awhile sometimes it would come on now it dont ever come on unless heat a big pot whole

First you will have to fix the leak then fill radiator to the proper level , the warm up the car to operating temp. then feel the hoses , they should get warm, you may have to rev the engine a few time to circulate the fluid,

I would not waste money on a radiator cap. The motor is shot ( probably a blown head gasket or cracked head) You probably will get weeks or until it blows up and the highway patrol puts you off the road with a hefty fine to boot.

HELP ASAP , OVER HEATING


you need to have the system check for pressure-it should be about 17psi -if it goes higher you have a blown head gasket which is blowing the coolant out of the system-or you might just have a radiator cap which is failing to hold pressure-up to 17psi- also youmay not be getting all the air out of the system and have an air pocket which will get super hot and steam the antifreeze- have the system vacummed down and the antifreeze will be sucked back into the system eleminating the air pockets-so you have a few things to look here-Ihopr this helps-Denny

I replaced my water pump for my 2006 buick lucerne and now theres no heat


Hope you didn't break a nail.

There is a air pocket in the heater core, you just didn't burp it right.

Try this

  1. Open the hood of your car. Secure the hood with the safety handle. If you have a newer car, you should have a bleeder valve on the front of your radiator. Check in your owner's manual for the location of this valve. If you do start your car, open the valve with wrench and let your car heat up. The excess air will bleed out of your cooling system. Keep your car on long enough to give the (trapped air) time to bleed out of your system.
  2. Let your car cool down. Once the car is cool, take off the radiator cap. Did the level of the radiator fluid go down? If it did, it means you bled the air out of your cooling system. Replace the radiator fluid, turn on the car, and let it run. Replace radiator fluid as needed.
  3. Step 3 (above) is the way you will remove air from your cooling system if you do not have a bleeder valve on your radiator. You will leave the cap off the radiator. You will run your car until it heats up. As the air dissipates, the radiator fluid level will go down. You will fill up your radiator fluid to the correct level. Be careful because the heated radiator fluid will be hot. Always wear leather gloves and safety goggles when working on your radiator.
  4. Once the air dissipates and you fill the fluid, shut off the car. Let the car cool down. Once the car is cool, put the radiator cap back on the radiator. You may have to put more radiator fluid in the radiator. The level may fall as the car cools down. Now it is safe to drive your car. You have removed the trapped air from your cooling system.
Tips:
Always wear gloves and safety goggles when working on your radiator.
Radiator fluid gets very hot when heated.
Check radiator fluid periodically.

check radiator fluid level it take hot radiator fluid to pass through the heater core to produce the heat in your car VIA the fan. also check or replace your thermostat it could be bad and stuck in an open position thus radiator fluid not getting hot, no hot fluid no hot air
the other problem sounds like a duct hose under you dash has come loose locate and reattach.

Sounds like you dont have enough coolant in the system. wait till it is cold fill up the coolant system, then start it up. as the gauge reaches operating temperature watch your cooling fans and see if they turn on. if it just gets hotter and hotter and the fans dont turn on then you may have a bad connection, blown fuse, or relay. if the fan turns on but your car continues to get hot replace your thermostat. if you are still having problems it is most likely your water pump. you may want to check the weep hole located on the bottem side of the pulley, if it is weeping water then the bearing is toast and you need to replace it, you can also loosen the belt and wiggle the pulley around, if it moves around its likely toast if it seems good and tight it should be fine, also check all heater core hoses, bypass hoses, radiator hoses for loose ends, cracked hoses, bad fittings, etc.. you can check the radiator by looking for drips while its running or my taking it in to a radiator shop and having it pressure tested.

did you buy the heater cores new heater core and radiator is two different things sounds like you thermostat is bad touch your bottom hose and your top are they both hot if ones hot and ones cold water is not circulating bad thermostat is the heater core put in right

2003 Hyundai Elantra: Air is only heated when the gas pedal is pressed (while on the highway the air becomes hot). When the pedal is released (slowing down/stopping) the air cools down to cold.


I had same issue. Turns out it was low on anti-freeze in the radiator. I added fluid and now have lots of heat!! Be sure to also add radiator fluid to the overflow tank too.

My radiator (1996 Ford Explorer) is leaking at the bottom. No problem with heating or cooling or running hot. Just steady drip


You can have it repaired at a radiator shop, or replaced with a new one. Are you sure it's the radiator that's leaking, sometimes it's the water pump or a hose that drips down onto the radiator. It can be difficult to locate due to air circulation of the fan and driving which spreads the leaking fluid around. I assume u top off the coolant often, since u say there are no issues w/ it overheating or running hot. If this is the case, the leak will eventually get worse, and adding coolant constantly gets expensive. Good luck, let me know what u decide to do, or if u have any other questions. Curt

Water pumps can stall out, but do you have air trapped in system.
Had you recently had the system "open" to replace hose, thermostat, temp sensor. Some Ford and GM have a bleeder screw on a high point in cooling system to bleed out trapped air.

Check your trans fluid color. Since the trans cooler is built into radiator (automatics)

IF the engine is overheating the trans CAN overheat
IF the trans is overheating the engine CAN overheat

They share the same cooling source and trans fluid gets hotter than oil, but yet it has a wimpy cooler built into radiator. Maybe add trans oil cooler to system.

Also outside temp affects the cool down rate of the radiator, ie...hot air trying to cool down hot radiator/engine is less effecting than cool air cooling hot radiator/engine
