probably-
from your description I suspect that the clutch cable is faulty and needs replacing
pedal tight and slipping clutch = faulty clutch pedal system rather than clutch
The clutch system in the Kia rios of those years are clutch cables, not hydraulic. There is no need for clutch fluid. Have a mechanic look at your clutch cable tension.
If it turns out to be a tranny prob thank Korea for building cheap cars.
if your car is not pulling when you accselerate means you need
to replace the pressure plate, clutch plate, and clutch razor, recent
model cars do not need to adjust the clutch its self adjusting
Hi, If you fit right clutch kit you need to check clutch cable and adjust if you not have cable check your car clutch fluid system may you need to bleed it from air or is leaking.
check out the operation of the clutch system .IT is difficult to rationalise a hydraulic clutch because if it is slipping that means that the pressure plate is being held off and not fully engaging but it also means that when pressing on the clutch the there would be no problem changing gears . But if you have a cable clutch operation then it is possible that the cable is jamming inside the outer cover and holding the pressure plate off ( slipping) and gear problems. If it is cable then replace the cable first. If hydraulic then it may mean box out for a new clutch kit.
possible clutch wear , if the clutch is worn, adjusted wrong, or slipping, this same thing will happen, depending on how many miles are on your vehicle, it may be time to replace the clutch ., you don't state if the motor seems to be running smoothly ,, or the same as it was prior to this problem,, if it seems ok, its time for a new clutch
That burnt smell is what used to be your clutch disk, and you will need to replace the clutch before you will be able to drive that vehicle again. You should purchase a complete clutch kit for your vehicle, and it should come with a new pressure plate, clutch disk, throw-out/release bearing, a pilot bearing, and a clutch disk alignment tool, and be sure that the pilot bearing is replaced when that new clutch is installed.
If its low fluid in the clutch hydraulic system then the clutch pedal will feel very soft and have very limited travel. It might be that you need the clutch replaced or the linkages checked and adjusted.
If the clutch in your car is hydralic there is no way to adjust that type of clutch. That you describe the clutch as being hard to push and that you have to have the clutch "right down on the floor to engage a gear" is an indication that the clutch is worn and needs to be replaced. If the clutch in your car is pushed by a cable, the cable might be adjustable and if that is the case you might get a few more months of use from the car, but the fix is still the same, you will need to get a new clutch put in your car.
