Question about 1984 GMC Suburban

1 Answer

82 700r4 Have a vibration at about 1000rpm in an 82 700r4. Thought it was an engine problem but it has done the same thing with two different motors. It was behind a 305 in a 82 Chev pu originally and now is behind a 350 in a 70 Nova. It was supposedly rebuilt shortly before I bought it. Converter? Thanks!

so, you had built you pickups from some service center or branded.

there is a problem related to unbalenced flywheel management in engine when it was assembled that time some dust or any other particles jamed on bore.

so you have to now reopen you engine case & clean up your all part bore, pistons, crank case, perticularly flywheel attach to crank,

do with care,

takes time to get result but you will surely sceeded to fix this.

Engine vibration intake

check to make sure you have the correct flywheel, these are matched to the engine and is done with or without weights depending on wether or not the engine is internally or externally balanced. also check your motor and transmission mounts.

There are Two Balance Shafts on the 2.4. Did your mechanic also change the balance shaft belt when he changed the timing belt? If he didn't, you'll want to do that. Since you mentioned the old belt was missing teeth, those loose teeth flying around could have damaged the crank position sensor and sensor blade (tone wheel). Also, the front balance shaft (on the side of the engine nearest the radiator), has THREE different positions when the timing mark is lined up - here's the glitch - ONLY ONE of them is the correct one - this is probably where your vibration is.

Bad vibration in motor

Several things can cause a vibration problem. Some simple things to look for espically if anything has recently been done under the hood. Check all plug wires or connections to fuel injectors and any vacuum lines to insure all is secure. Make sure have clean fuel, possible water contamination and check for clean engine air filter. It is really too new to have broken engine support but possible defect. This can be checked by going through the gears Forward/ Reverse and appying slight throttle in each with an observer. The engine should not ride up excessively.

I would check your motor mounts, if your engine is running smooth, the only thing keeping you from feeling engine vibrations are your motor mounts.

Engine Problems in 1999 Ford Expedition

could be a number of things. check the motor mounts first. also the exhaust pipe may be hitting under your seat. a bad coil can make your engine shake. my bet is that it has something to do with the exhaust though. it could be a minor fix or an major one, depending on the exact cause.

Motor seems to missfire a little at idle on a 2000 Pontiac Grand

Sounds like you have a bad mount if it is vibrating at idle, and goes away with RPMs. Most of them I see are the front motor mount, not the front of the car, but the front/timing side of the engine. Easy way to tell is to take a pry bar and pry up while engine is running. If it goes away, you have found the mount.

it is almost impossible to solve without hearing it in person, but some things to check are the front brakes, front wheel bearings, tires, and loose suspension parts.

1984 s10 2.8 manual trans. flywheel causes engine to vibrate

no should be same engine. check your engine mounts and tranny mount. how bad a vibration? sometimes after installing engine the trans gets shifted around and if mount was worn it will allow it to hit crossmeber and vibrate.
