Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

Open Question

Vehicle-2004 Chevy Cavalier Speedometer, gas, & RPM gauge is not reading correctly. One day it will be one gauge, then the next day another gauge. The car is running fine though. Does anyone know what causes this? Easy to fix myself? Thank you.

Yes there is a recall for erratic gauge readings. They will supply new instrument cluster and labor to install it at no charge to you. Tell the service writer that your gauges only work sometimes and they'll help you out. worked for me!!!

Common problem on the 03-06 Cavalier instrument clusters for the gauges to start going out. It's caused by failing stepper motors on the circuit board of the speedometer cluster. Check out his page for more about it and how to get it fixed - Cavalier speedometer repair

Electrical Problem with speed gauge, RPM and dash board lignts.

That is a manufacturing defect associated with your instrument cluster. My local dealer replaced my entire instrument cluster for free (truck was out of warranty) when my speedometer showed 100 mph in a parking lot and my oil pressure gauge read 0.
