I had this happen on my wifes windstar. its a relay/module located under the steering column by all the wires. you need the new module and than it has to be programed, i took it to best buy for that.

Hi, i hope that i can get some help from anyone in this forum, i havin problems whit my Dodge Dakota 2004 6cil 3.7 lts, the thing is that i have a misfire at idle and the p0300 code comes on, the truck...

You did everything I will suggest in normal case.only one step you miss!
Remove the crank sensor and stick 4 layer of masking tape, turn the engine to point were the ring is full(no hole)and install the sensor again.Use scan tool and learn the new position of the sensor.when the sensor move the timing move to ,if your flex plate is lose or damage will give the wrong angle for cyl.#1 After computer register misfire wil go to fail safe mode and set the timing to 10 degree
good luck

Grand cherokee 1996 2.5 deiselengine

11 and 12 are not valid fault codes however if the speedometer stops working when the check engine light is on I would say you have a failing vehicle speed sensor.

I have a 1996 VW Jetta, odomoter and speedometer

Either you have a broken wire some where from the speed sensor to the cluster or you have connector at fault, the one which hookup the dash cluster to the main wire bundel. Check the connector, maybe a pushed back pin !!

95 subaru impreza ;speedometer quit, engine light stays on

i had this problem with mine if your cable spins wen the car is moving its not the gear box end or the cable its the speed sensor in the speedo its self its very easy to fix you have to strip the speedo out of the case the sensor is only small and on the under side of the speedo the sensor is about 50 mm long and 10 mm wide change that and it should be ok
oh remember to reset your ecu

Check engin light comes on.

The check engine light can come on for many reasons! But being that changing the sensor at the exhaust did help for a while makes me tend to believe there is still a prob in this area. If you do a lot of low speed driving and stop an go, the convertor on the exhaust could be clogged a bit. Esp a lot of short drives. The dealer sounds like a place to stay away from!! Frankster016

Improve mpg

Not much. 1. Keep the tires inflated properly; that makes a big diff. 2. Don't carry anything you don't need...keep it light. 3. Use the lowest octane fuel that will work without the engine making noise(knocking or pinging). 4. Never use a roof rack! (Skis or bike, luggage etc) 5. Do your maintenance on time/keep the thing tuned. 6. Don't jackrabbit start. (making the tires go real fast from a stop) Get quickly to the speed you want and stay there. Changing speed uses more fuel. 7. Slow down. After about 55 MPH most vehicles start using relatively much more fuel. 8. Use the air conditioner and keep the windows closed. Newer car air conditioners are very efficient but old cars weren't so some old timers will tell you to not use the air but that's only for older models. 9. Don't leave the engine running when you're not moving. 10. Don't warm-up the engine in the morning to clear the ice. Use a scraper, drive slowly until the engine warms.(but make sure you can see)
