Yes it is but you need to check your owners manual that came with your car and be sure.some places will change it at 3000. just because people are still in the mind fram this is what i'm suppose to do. but due to better oils and better cars. it isnt nessary to change it as often.

No. It has not. I use the best motor oil available Mobil 1, and I still change mine every 3000 miles. The oil nowadays is better than it use to be. But it is still best to change your oil every 3000 miles.

Please rate by checking the thumbs up in the corner! THANKS!

Oil pressure drops when im at lights, but goes back up when i go,no knocking noises,n regular oil changes, what should i do

First hook up a mechanical pressure gauge to get a true reading--you may just have a bad sender. If pressure is less than 10 to 15 psi at hot dead idle, tell us how many miles on engine--what oil you are using--how often you change it. I have sometimes gone up one notch on thickness of oil on worn engines and run them many more miles.

Changing oil every 3000 miles?

i have heard a lot of chatter about changing your oil every 3000 miles now to clarify if your vehicle was made before 2000 or you drive on dusty roads or up hills all the time most manufacturers don't recommend you change your out till 7,500 miles buy doing this it will save you a lot of time an $$$$ in the long run

99 silverado oil presure problem oil pump in front of engine

They may be right. Too much clearance on the bearings is where you lose oil pressure, or so I've heard. If you bought it used, someone may have once run old, dirty oil in it too long, or let it run low. You could drop the oil pan and check the bearings or replace them.

My oil filter fell off my 2008 Camry SE, two months after an oil change. Ever heard of such a thing?

I just heard a similar issue this week. 2003 Rav4 went more than 500 miles after an oil change. It obviously isn't the person that changed your oil last (even though some people think so). If an oil filter is loose, it won't make it 50 miles, there is too much pressure. The oil will leak out quickly. For the car to go two months is obviously not a loose filter issue. Sounds like a spike in pressure was too much for the filter to hold. Good luck

2007 GMC Yukon using a quart of Oil every 2000 - 3000 miles

Sounds funny, I would take it to an indepened repair shop and have them check it out, we have many customer's with Yukon and have not heard of that, I have a GMC with over 315,000 miles and between oil changes, maybe a qts low, have it check else where.

Overall maintenance and tips to keep my lexus 1992 es 300 running smoothly it has 230000 miles. I get oil changes every 5000 miles put good oil in the car. I put good gas in the car and every time i fill...

I would not mess with Oil Treatments, what you have been doing is fine. I would change the fuel filter, if it hasn't been done for a while. Also a transmission service. Check your belts and hoses.

How often should I change the oil in my 2004 BMW 330i? I've heard 7,500 miles and 15,000 miles. Does it make a difference?

Yes it makes a difference. You can never go wrong following the manufactures recommendations in your owner's manual. Saying that, I recommend every 5,000 miles if you use conventional oil and every 7,000 miles if you use synthetic and drive normally. If you drive mainly highway driving you can extend these 1,000 miles. Just as important is to change the filter at every oil change and to use a quality filter such as Purolator, Wix, AC/Delco, Motorcraft, or Bosch. Avoid cheap filters. Also important to a clean engine is to change the air filter every 30,000 miles.

Looking into buying a used 2003 honda odyssey with just over 100,000 miles. what maintence is required? i heard timing belt should be replaced. is this true and how much am i looking at?

For a 2003 used Honda odyssey, the following should be required:-

1. Replace the timing belt. (repair estimates at
2. Drain the whole oil out of the engine and transmission
3. Replace the brake pads
4. Most of all run a diagnosis scan on the vehicle to detect any other possible maintenance that will be required.

Good luck and a good buy.

Take care.

Transmission only goes to 3 , won`t kick over to 4th and 5th gear. I heard i`ts oil filter blockage. is this true?

You can guess all you want but if you have a oil problem then damage is being done to the engine. Unless you can afford to replace the engine I would get it in ASAP so a professional can look at it. You could replace the filter yourself to verify your question. You dont need to change the oil now to verify this. Bwm's oil filters do tend to fall apart within 6000 miles and the service interval is 12,000 to 15,000 depending on the year
