Question about 1990 Chevrolet Corsica

1 Answer

The car acts like it is flooding, while driving it.It will sputter along then it will cough and then runs fine for awhile.I have put in several cans of injector cleaner, not alot of help.I popped out the injector, now it wont start.I made sure to reconnect the electric feed but when I try to start it up, it will overfill the injector body and flood out.

It sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is not working.Too much fuel pressure at low speeds, and at idle, not enougfh fuel return into the tank. This may flood the intake ports and too much injector cleaner may destroy the in line fuel filter it may not be filtering the fuel, just bypassing the filtering ,like no filter at all.

Unlikely it's flooded, but I did have a similar problem with my car, and replacing the temperature sensor fixed it.

Ignition components. Replace plugs, wires, rotor, cap, and possibly coil. Could also be fuel pump, as they can sometimes come and go.

Somewhere along the the line you may have a fuel blockage or a good dose of water in your fuel tank.Check the water in tank 1st.Add 1 litre of metholated spirits to every 20 litres of fuel. This will allow the water to break down and be burnt through the motor over time.Do this twice. If this does not work, there may be a glob of **** in the fuel tank that blocks the pickup. If this is the problem, the tank needs to be taken out and cleaned.I hope this is a start to get you back on the road.
