PO171 is a lean fuel mixture fault code. It is not serious in most cases engine will run for years to come. The problem is caused by too much air or not enough fuel getting to the combustion chambers of the engine. There are so many causes that its hard to nail this one down. Basically your engine is sucking air in somewhere it is not supposed. Any vacuum leak will cause that. There are a lot of vacuum lines. These is usually a vacuum line diagram under the hood that will show you were they are. Also your EGR valve may not be working correctly. In smone cases the engine is pulling vacuum through valve stem seals and intake manifold gaskets. Vacuum lines and EGR are not very hard to check out as they are external engine parts. Gaskets and valve stem seals will require disassembling major parts of the engine.

Oh I didn't mention the miss. Since it is missing, I suggest you pul the plugs and inspect them. They should all look basically the same as far the cleanly ness of the tips that stick inside the cylinders. If any are oily or clogged with debris, you may have a blown head gasket. That will also cause a PO171 code. A serious vacuum leak will also cause a miss.

2001 Ford F150, V6: Thus far, I have replaced the Oxygen sensors, PVC value and elbows, MAF, ERG and all the intake manifold gaskets that you recommended per your site along with new isolator bolts from dealer. I had the dealer run a Diagnostic test and it came up as intake vacuum leak equaled 125.00. I've spend over 600.00 in new parts. I have a friends OBD2 scanner that I am using.

I've done everything as suggested in this procedure.http://sites.google.com/site/fordf150p01... I put it all back together, started it and it sounds as if it's running with a fowled plug, drove it to burn the gunk off the plugs, and the light turned back on. Still running very hard. When light came back on I use the OBD2 tester and it came up P0174 only this time. The P0171 is gone now. My long trim is down to 4, it was 28

Misfires wont idle

Lets start at the beginning. Are you saying you have trouble codes for all of those things ?
You changed the fuel pump - did you check fuel pressure when you were finished ? Vortek engines require more fuel pressure than regular GM V6 engines.
The gauge jumping around could be a problem with the sending unit in the tank.
And if the number 3 plug is fuel fouled, are you sure it is getting spark from the cap ? Again if it is the vortek engine it has a spider style fuel injection system inside the intake manifold and it could be leaking fuel.

I have a 1997 dodge grand caravan 3.8l v6 with about 146k. I stopped at a gas station and put gas in it (was at 1/2 tank) Went to start it and it started hard. Cranked for about 4 seconds before turning...

Have you ever put in the gasoline tank any fuel injector cleaner yet because your injectors which injects the fuel of gasoline, if the injectors are not injecting enough fuel into the piston chambers that the fuel injectors needs to be clean to allow enough fuel to come in so go buy injector cleaner at autozone and put the whole thing into the gasoline tank and then drive. Your fuel injectors are clogged or going serious bad on you so you might have to replace them as well but first try to put fuel injector cleaner and see.

Missing. I have replaced plugs, wires, cleaned injectors, new injector, new fuel pump, cleaned fuel rail, new fuel filter, treatment 4 times in gas tank. What could this be?

Missing is usually associated with the ignition system. Check the ignition module and possibly try to check the individual spark plugs. The easiest and safest way to do this is by using an induction timing light and look for inconsistencies in the spark pattern of each plug lead.

2002 Yukon fuel injection service needed?

General Motors does not have a service interval for fuel injectors, though they make a injection cleaner if there is a drivability issue. Other companies suggest a injection cleaning interval of 48000 miles. I would suggest an in tank additive from a reputable company every couple of years.

Car trouble,

could be a dirty fuel inject problem
run the fault code first to check for cam/crank position sensor problems or other electronic faults
and go from there
a dealer charging $80.00/ hr is cheap as where i am it is $145.00 /hr
