After new battery put in, battery is dead in a few days.

When you shut down the car some circuit in the car is using current at an excessive rate so as to drain the battery. To repair you need to locate the source of drain. You can do this by connecting an ammeter to the car battery and while the car is turned off monitor the amperage reading. You will see a draw. Then pull fuses, one at a time, till you see the drain virtually disappear. Now you have identified the circuit that is responsible for draining your battery. If you cannot fix it, at least you know where the hassle is and you can always pull that fuse when you leave the car unattended for a few days so that the battery is not drained. If getting to the fuse is a hassle you can always replace the fuse with some wiring and a switch that you place in the glove box and all you do is turn the switch off when you remove the key. Presto - cheap fix!!!!!!

My 94 jaguar xj6 battery drains even if the car is turned off what could be causing this

I have less than fond memories of tracing electrical troubles in a Jaguar (though much older than yours). Here's the basic process you need to follow:
1. Pull all the fuses. Does the battery drain overnight?
If yes, then a circuit that is not fuse protected is the problem. Start with starter/solenoid, etc. Disconnect each thing and test with meter.
2. If battery drain stops, then use meter to check current drain on each fuse. One will have more than a trickle.
3. Once you find which system is draining, you can narrow it down further by disconnecting each thing on that circuit.

Yeah, It's a pain, and may take days, but you can find it.

Drains battery while sitting

Here is how to detect a drain in system! Use a test light, Hook up test light to the negative terminal on battery. ( unhook terminal first.) connect opposite end of test light to negative on battery. If a drain, light will be on. Start pulling fuses from fuse box. when the test light goes out, that is the problem curcuit. let sit 3to5 minutes before pulling fuses. Good-Day!

Battery draining

A power drain in the truck. You would need to remove the fuses until the drain stops, then check the circuit for that fuse.

If the battery goes dead in a few days, something is "on" and draining it.
Someone will need to check the circuits to find the drain. You can pull all of the fuses or check each circuit one at a time with a test light.

Car won't start. replaced battery. ok for 3-4 days. Problem reoccurred. dealership can't find what is draining power. Replaced battery second time. cycle started over again.

If you have some electrical know how you can try to trace the draw yourself. You will need a multimeter capable of measuring amps.

First dis-connect the negative terminal, and make sure your dome light and everything else is turned off.

Next connect the multimeter in between the terminal and battery connection basically completing the circuit, and make sure the meter is set to amperage.

You should get a reading somewhere around 14-25 milliamps depending on how old or new the vehicle is. If you have a reading of say 200 milliamps then you have a draw somewhere.

Now once you get a clear level reading start by removing individual fuses and seeing if the reading goes down. Once you find the fuse that drops the reading down to an acceptable level you found the circuit that has the problem.

At this point you would have to trace individual parts of the circuit to find the specific draw which requires a fair bit of know how, and should be done by someone with this knowledge.
