Hi, I have a grand marquis with 220,000 miles. It has just started to run like it has a fouled plug or bad wire. They were replaced 3 years ago. Now the check engine light came on flashing for about 3 mins then it stayed on. The car idols in park fine. Thanks

I would say you need new wires and plugs they should be replaced every two years and more likely the plugs are fowled out

How old are the spark plugs and wires. GM vehicles are great runners until something goes wrong with the typical spark or fuel delivery issues. Wires or fouled plugs may not set off the computer, it will just run crappy.

When my 2002 grand marquis hits about 40-45 it starts to ****. I thought it might be water in the gas but I have put in seafoam and dry gas with no change. You don't feel it when you are accelerating...

Waste of money to add ANYTHING TO FUEL TANK
Non of those products are necessary or do much

The spark plugs get changed every 3 years or a little
more & not more than 60,000 to 70,000 miles on them

You could have ignition misfires, very common on all
ford products (not from the spark plugs)

I would be disconnecting any vacuum hoses to the
EGR Valve, plug them & see if the problem goes away
If so,replace egr valve. (another ford problem)

The front 2 -- O2 Sensors (ones closest to engine, before
or in the inlet of exhaust converter, get replaced every 100,000
miles. (not all 4-just front two)

Clean MAF Sensor --- in inlet air ducting (between air filter &
throttle body (CRC MAF Cleaner)

While changing Trans Fluid ---fixes nothing --- it should be done on
ALL Vehicles, every 3 years & NEVER over 30,000 miles

Do Power Steering at same time (do flush)

All of a sudden my 2004 mercury grand marquis with 55000 miles idles rough. Not really noticeable when driving but do believe there is a lack of power and mpg seems to have declined. Can u help???

The vehicle is 7 years old

The spark plugs should have been changed at 60,000
Gas filter every 3 years
Air Filter every 3 years or sooner
The MAF Sensor cleaned every year
By now the O2 Sensors are slow to respond
If they have 100,000 change the front 2 sensors
Check TPS Voltage
Check Fuel Pressure at the fuel rail
Egr Valve most likely bad
If you have COP Ignition Coils, they may be misfiring,
common ford problem

Unrelated--change trans and power steering fluids
every 3 years, never go over 30,000 miles on any vehicle

Have a 2001 grand marqui. every time after it rains it won't start. cranks but wont run. been to 3 mechanics who can't solve the problem

car which won't start in the rain usually needs a new set of good spark plug wires, made for the engine not a generic set, and a healthy dose of spray which displaces moisture around all underhood electrical connections; especially if the plug wires are 10 years old. of course your three mechanics have already suggested that so i would take it to a dealer in case they have seen some odd thing about that particular rmodel over the years.

1987 Merc Grand Marquis, saving as "collector" car, last ran 6 months ago. Will start, run for 3-10 seconds, then runs out of gas and stalls. Will not start again unless sits for 15 miutes or so. It is...

You need to attach a pressure gauge to the schrader valve and measure the fuel pressure with the key on and also while running. You need to see about 40 lbs in both cases.

1996 grand marquis fouling plugs fast

The upper intake gaskets leak on these engines, here is how to check this, get a can of carb spray, spray all around the engine top, esp around the upper intake/plenum gasket area, if the engine RPM changes you have a leak.
