Good Evening, unfortunately you will never find one for that car, they went with a plug on the backside of the transmission. Hope this helps.

1999 Honda Odyssey will not engage Reverse. Engages all forward gears

Park you car on a level surface. Set the parking brake on you car; start the engine and let it get to full operating temperature; pop the hood and while the engine is running, check the transmission fluid by pulling out the transmission dipstick. Wipe off the dipstick, reinsert it into the dipstick tube all the way down, then pull it out again and check the fluid level.
As you check the fluid level, observe the fluids' color; any discoloration, other than a bright red color, means the transmission is going bad, especially if the fluid smells burnt.
If the fluid passes the visual and smell test, make sure the transmission fluid level is within or between the fill and full marks. If you need to add transmission fluid, make sure you use the right type based on the car manufacturer's specs which are located in your car's owner's manual. In absence of one, call your local dealership or parts store, they can easily look it up free of charge. Of course if the level is low, add a little fluid at a time through the dipstick tube while the car is running- checking the fluid level frequently.
Then check the PCM for any DTCs; are you pulling any fault codes?
If there is damage to the bands, clutches, or solenoids, a tear down and rebuild of the transmission will have to be done; and it is costly

Locating tranny fluid dipstick

Don't take this to the bank just yet but, I have a 96 Sedan DeVille, also front-wheel drive, that I had a dickens of a time locating the tranny dip-stick on. After MUCH searching and many "choice words", I found it tucked under the air-inlet tube and power-steering lines. It's a cap rather than a stick and it's REAL fun to get to, especially when the engine is hot! Hope this helps and Good Luck! Incidently, Don't know if you're aware of it but, when you get it out, smell the fluid as well as looking at it. If it smells "burnt", I suggest you change it a.s.a.p. . (Burnt fluid often indicates band/clutch slippage.)

How to check and add transmission fluid to a Volvo c70

The '01 C70 does have a tiny A/T dipstick, located under the large wiring bundle near the battery, under the radiator hose. It is very short, small and burried. Look very very carefully. I missed it until taking out the radiator hoses.

Looking for transmision fluid dip stick

Underhood Check
  • Engine oil--Check the engine oil level.
  • Coolant--Check the radiator coolant level in the reservoir.
  • Battery-- Visually check battery cables and connections.
  • Automatic transmission--Check the fluid level.
  • Master cylinder--Check the fluid level.
  • Power Steering--Check the fluid level.
  • Windshield washer--Check the fluid level.
  • Belts & hoses--Visually check all belts and hoses for wear. NOTE: In addition to the items listed above there are cases with some manufacturer's where odd components such as manual transmission/transaxles and front differentials many be equipped with a dipstick found underhood for fluid level check. If you are unsure of a dipstick on your vehicle, check with the owners manual. 89531p07.jpg

Underhood Check-check for transmission fluid at the transmission case screwed in with a dipstick. Most GM vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions have such a dipstick.
  • Engine oil--Check the engine oil level.
  • Coolant--Check the radiator coolant level in the reservoir.
  • Battery-- Visually check battery cables and connections.
  • Automatic transmission--Check the fluid level.

I just bought 1998 Ford Escort SE and can't find the oil dipstick. Exactly where is it, and is there perhaps a picture or schematic of one so I know where I may have to install one? Thanks much.

The engine oil dipstick is located on the driver's side of the engine. Remove it and wipe the oil off the dipstick and then thread it back into the tube. Remove the dipstick and read the level. It should be between the MAX and MIN lines. Add oil if necessary. The coolant level is checked by visually inspecting the level in the reservoir while the engine is cold. It should be around the "Full Cold" line. Take a look at the coolant because oil mixed in with the antifreeze could signify a leaking head gasket. The brake master cylinder will be located on the driver's side of the firewall behind the strut tower. Pull the lid off and check the fluid level inside. To check the automatic transmission fluid level, first allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature, then check the fluid level on the dipstick. ------------

Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Cannot find the transmission fluid and power steering fluid gauges in a 1996 bmw 318ti.please help so that i can check how much there is.

if you can find the resevoir for the power steering, which is supposed to be located (Driver's side in front of the engine near the ground. See that canister in front of the engine with the screw top? i had to look that up) you will be able to tell by looking at it how much is in there. usually there are some lines indicating what level you are at.

as for the transmission fluid, locate the dipstick It will be located toward the back of the engine compartment. It may be a different color than the motor oil dipstick. The transmission fluid dipstick may even have a picture or words on it. A telltale sign is that the tube the dipstick fits in is smaller than the motor oil tube.(had to look that one up as well) when you pull it out, it too will visually tell you what level you are, full, low or none. pull it out and wipe off the stick, then replace it making sure it fits all the way otherwise you won't get a correct reading. if you need to add some your owners manuel should tell you the exact kind you need if you don't have one, there should be a plate on the side of the transmission.

    hope this helps
