Where is starter located on a 1988 pontiac firebird with 8 cylander

What are the symptoms? Dirty fuel, clogged injectors, worn starter etc can all be a part of this...clean throttle body too.

The fuel pump relay for TransAm 88 is located on the firewall under hood on drivers side it is square.

The starter is at the back of the engine, bolted into the transmission bell housing. Follow the positive battery cable down to the starter.

go to autozone.com, become a member(completely free and safe) and then you can access their repair guide section which contains a vacuum diagram for your 'bird....you'll use that site a lot.....need to get yourself a haynes manual for your car-.....thanks for the question...ps- also check out a forum just for firebirds....hope this helps

The top smaller round piece is the solenoid.

A fuel pump switch? Never heard of one in all these years working on Pontiac since 1872. Gall a GM parts dearler and ask them. They will tell you the same story I just told you. The pump runs off the relay only

Sounds like your automatic choke is set to rich this would be the first place I would look

Hi,have you done a fuel pressure check on the vehicle.This will check the status of your fuel pump.If its a carb engine it will be 5 to 7 psi.If its fuel injection it will be approx.35 to 45 psi.Good Luck!!!
