Question about 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager

1 Answer

Air filter changing.

I know where the air filter belongs. My problem is opening the unit. It is a 3 liter fuel injected engine. Ir has been a long time since I changed the filter. i put on less than 3000 miles a year. It is my second car. less than 75,000 miles on it. I purchased it new.
The top should come off easily, but it doesn't. I removed the screws in the front and pulled up . nothing. It is like it is glued shut. I do not recall any clips holding it together,

how do I open the unit???????

Look down below the ' top' and you will see 3-4 tension loaded spring clips that you can release with your fingers after removing those screws. Cover comes off to the left hand side.

My car will crank BUT will not start I put a fuel pump fuel filter and a brain box IT'S still not getting gas to the motor to start

Without knowing more about what you are working on it is very hard to say what the problem might be, but if you have fuel to the rail but not into the engine it would have to be the injectors not opening. I would think to check the ignition pick-up or the crank sensor.

Misfires wont idle

Lets start at the beginning. Are you saying you have trouble codes for all of those things ?
You changed the fuel pump - did you check fuel pressure when you were finished ? Vortek engines require more fuel pressure than regular GM V6 engines.
The gauge jumping around could be a problem with the sending unit in the tank.
And if the number 3 plug is fuel fouled, are you sure it is getting spark from the cap ? Again if it is the vortek engine it has a spider style fuel injection system inside the intake manifold and it could be leaking fuel.

Just bought the 1988 Toyota pickup and don't know what size engine in it. I need to change the oil and need to know what type.

If it's a 4 cylinder it's a 2.4 liter. If it's a 6 cylinder it's a 3.0 liter. The 2.4 liter engine comes with a carb, Fuel injection or even a turbo. Either way the 2.4 and the 3.0 take the same oil filter. The bosch is # 3330. I hope this helped and good luck.

Hi! my nissan sentra 1989 8valve engine, lately is very fuel efficient almost 12km /liter. but for now i think 4km /liter. i dont know why? pls. help me what im doing. thanks.

Hello! That is a significant change...I'll need a little clarification...Is the Check Engine Light (CEL) flashing?...Tell me how the engine is running...Do you see any smoke (blue or black) out of the exhaust?... Is the engine hard starting, idle poorly, hesitate or stall?...

If the CEL is flashing I'll send the procedure to identify the trouble code/codes that the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) has stored...

How do I change the fuel filter on a 2000 Mercury Mountianeer?

For the 6 cylinder 4.0 Liter EFI (electronic fuel injection) SOHC (single overhead cam) engine
(8th digit of VIN = "E"), and
the 8 cylinder 5.0Liter EFI engine (8th digit og VIN="P"):

1. relieve fuel system pressure
2. remove/disconnect:
NEG. battery cable
bolts holding fuel filter shield
fuel lines (3 of them) - labeled (1) in above diagram
fuel filter (labeled (2) in above diagram - from its support

Installation is the reverse of removal, but torque the fuel filter shield bolts to 15 ft-lb. (20 Nm).
And, if you're as careful as I am, apply anti-sieze to the bolt threads before they go in.

How do i change the fuel filter in my gmc sierra 3500 diesel 6.5 and whear is located??

FUEL FILTER MOUNTED ON A BRACKET TO THE REAR OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD.TO REMOVE FUEL FILTER.TURN OFF IGNITION.RELEASE ANY PRESSURE OR VACUUM IN THE TANK.DRAIN THE FUEL FROM THE FUEL FILTER BY OPENING BOTH THE AIR BLEED AND THE WATER DRAIN VALVE ALLOWING THE FUEL TO DRAIN INTO A SUITABLE CONTAIMER.UNSTRAP BOTH BAIL WIRES WITH A SUITABLE TOOL AND REMOVE THE FILTER.INSTALLING THE NEW FILTER ENSURE THAT BOTH FILTER MOUNTING PLATE FITTINGS ARE CLEAR OF DIRT.SNAP THE FILTER INTO PLACE WITH THE BAIL WIRES.CLOSE THE WATER DRAIN VALVE AND OPEN THE AIR BLEED VALVE.CONNECT A 1/8 INCH I.D HOSE TO THE AIR BLEED PORT AND PLACE THE OTHER END INTO A SUITABLE CONTAINER.DISCONNECT THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP SHUTDOWN SOLENOID WIRE.CRANK THE ENGINE FOR 10 - 15 SECONDS THEN WAIT 1 MINUTE FOR THE STARTER MOTOR TO COOL.REPEAT UNTIL CLEAR FUEL IS OBSERVED COMING FROM THE AIR BLEED.IF ENGINE IS TO BE CRANKED OR STARTED WITH THE AIR CLEANER REMOVED CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO PREVENT DIRT FROM BEING PULLED INTO THE AIR INLET MANIFOLD WHICH COULD RESULT IN ENGINE DAMAGE.CLOSE THE AIR BLEED VALVE RECONNECT THE INJECTION PUMP SOLENOID WIRE AND REPLACE THE FUEL TANK CAP.START THE ENGINE ALLOW IT TO IDLE FOR 5 MINUTES AND CHECK THE FUEL FILTER FOR LEAKS.

My Audi A4 2000 TDI year 2005 has run on two tanks of Bio fuel recently and it hasn't recovered... started stuttering. Fuel system has been flushed out, air flow mand air flow meter has been changed but...

Audi 1.9 TDI and 2.0 TDI engines with pump-nozzle injection system, (year 2005 included), don't have permission to run with Bio fuel !!!
First you must replace fuel filter, interflow a quality Diesel additive (for 60 liters Diesel fuel dosage) fill up tank with Diesel fuel and run at least 300 km on highway at 3000-3500 rpm in 4-th gear.
I recommend you Foerch Diesel Reiniger System additive! I use this additive from 3 years ago and is certified on Audi TDI engines!

1.5 diesel megane injection fault

The cheapest way to go is to change the fuel filters first and the air filter. Then I would change the crankshaft sensor.

You may have to bit the bullet , and have the fuel pump changed before the fuel injection pump. The fuel pump in the tank can be loosing pressure to the fuel injectoin pump.
I think the lesser cost is the fuel tank pump vs. the fuel injection pump.

The system runs of fuel and air. No spark like on a gas engine.

So the problem can only be lack of fuel or lack of air getting into the vehicle air induction. A restriction in fuel or air will make the engine run poorly.

6.0 liter diesel slugish on take off

this problem can be related to the EGR, if you let them idle to much they get coked up and get stuck in the open position(not allowing enough fresh air in). also change the fuel filters like every 2-3 oil changes. It's expensive but worth the effort.
