I sounds like the car either overheated to the point in which the motor seized (If thats the case the driver should of and could of pulled over long before that point.)
If its because there was no, or very low oil the warning is not as great and it can get by you, although a "check gauge " light should of come on. The only other thing is that it was simply time and in that case it could of happened to any one. In most cases a light will come on on the dash warning the driver they are called "IDIOT LIGHTS" because they are ment to warn all of danger of some sort. If the radio is balsting and your talkin on the phone and checkin out the chicks walkin down the sidewalk your gonna miss it and then its too late

Maria; they may have hurt your engine, with your hood up,check oil. if full ok.check for a pulley at altenator, with motor running are all pulleys turning? look at the bottom pulley to see if it's wobbling. you may have a harmonic balancer pulley that's coming apart.if not that, is it a bottom engine knock? if so,you'll need a professional to diagnose your problem.i wish you luck!!!! hope this helps!!

If you ran the engine out of oil then it is done. You car wont just shut off it the radiator is bad. You will need to have the motor swapped. What pump broke?

I started my car and heard a loud pop now a trac off light and my check engine light is on. I know i am about due for a tune up but the engine is shaking and making a loud noise.

sounds like eithor you blew a cylinder or a head gasket might have been a spark plug blow out
look under your hood when the car is running you will see the problem if it is one of theise

other wise 1 plug might have craped and the raw fuel was dumped down the exhaust and you got a backfire

After the water hose broke from the back of the engine the engine made a funny metal banging noise and shut off. now it wont start it just keeps cranking. whats wrong

I guess you may have seized your motor. Try turning the crankshaft pulley with a spanner...or if car is a manual, try engaging the 4th gear and push the car see if your engine is turning.

Front brakes replaced and then heard a loud bang

A noise like that in brakes are not something to guess at, or play around with. Call the place that did the brake job, and explain to them what happened. My guess is that they will come to you, or advise you to very carefully bring it to them for a look. Might have been a stone wedged or something but don't take the chance, have it looked at, a.s.a.p. and don't drive it if you don't have to until then.
