Question about Ford Windstar
All engines have to circulate fresh air of sorts or filtered air into the crankcase, and then draw out any fumes or compression blow by,in order, to not have a pressure build up, or you would get gasket leaks from the crankcase pressure. Those fumes are drawn into the induction or intake after the throttle body, in most cases on todays vehicles. The PCV Valve only prevents oil from being drawn out of valve cover and regulates the flow of air. I for one, never replace the valves, just spray them every couple years with brakleen. The valve has no envolvement, on how you vehicle performs,as long as it isn't creating a vacuum leak. Sounds as though someone removed yours.
Get the code read, that caused the check light to come on. That is another issue.
