1999 Mercury Cougar Problem

My 1999 mercury cougar is a manual, i have a digital gas gage when it reads 150 miles or less i have to granny shift my car or it will act as if it is runing out of gas and it bogs out when i refill my gas i do not have this problem please help thnks

    the gas gage on my mercury is broken and I cant tell when my car needs gas and I would like to have it repaired how much would that cost?

Cathy, 1996 Mercury cougar gas gauge not working. Simplest thing to check first is your fuel gage fuse, make sure all fuses are good. The ground wire could be corroded/damaged, sending unit in tank faulty, fuel level gauge in cluster faulty. All things can be tested by a good Tech.,diagnosed and estimate for repair.

Either the dash gauge is faulty, a fuel pump/sending unit is faulty, or you have an electrical wiring issue...check in this order

1999 mercury cougar transmission problem i dont understand

This is being caused by the seals in the transmission worn out and the heat is causing them to become to plyable thus losing pressure, an overhual is needed

Gas not kicking in

Change the fuel filter and put some good gas in with injecter cleaner.Run it down the highway.
