My car was overheated and my mechanic showed me the leak on the water pump..first..if you gonna replace it, u have to change the timing belt...300 dollars canadian I paid. I dk if that helps.

Smoking out the tailpipe is usually caused by worn rings, or really worn valve guide seals. (if it is an oil smoke) If it is a black smoke, it is running too rich, maybe an injector leaking or stuck open.
