Question about Cadillac DeVille

2 Answers

Why are all the information lights, gas data and climate control numbers reporting incorrectly on my '92 Deville? Looks like a disco display. Shuts down when panel reads "c" or "d" as I'm driving.

I have been working with climate control module, inside the air duct. It was hot to handle by hand. I have replaced used climate control module, under glove box. No change. Preparing to replace air horn that receives outside temp, which is reporting high negative readings -177 F.
And the power control module inside the air duct (used).. Am I going the wrong direction? Is it the climate control center(ij the dash) that needs attention?

Looking for a more precise answer. I am a retired mechanic and this has me stumped. Went to the junkyard today and purchased power control module, from air duct. Also, temp sending unit for outside air. The existing climate control module gets extremely hot. I packed it in ice, yesterday, to see if it would make a difference. Same extreme heat, no change. Lots of guesses/advice from friends in the business, nothing has worked.

This is caused by a faulty display computer, u will need to remove the cluster assembly and send it in for repair to an authorized GM electronics repair center, cost is about $250.00 on average.

The display is at fault and needs to be replaced. If it was the Body Control Module false readings would be presented on the display instead

How do I program a Cadillac 2004 Deville remote key fob?

came across this, maybe this will help out...this is for analog gauges....

With the ignition in the "RUN" position (engine does not necessarily need to be running, but it will work either way).
Press OFF and WARMER (or the OFF and PASSENGER WARMER buttons) on climate control panel simultaneously. Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) will light all telltales, then go blank. System is now in DIAGNOSTIC MODE. After diagnostic mode cycles through and stops, press FAN DOWN button until "RFA?" is displayed, then press FAN UP. If "RFA DATA?" is displayed, press FAN DOWN. If "RFA OVERRIDE?" is displayed press FAN UP button.

If "RFA S00 NO OVERRIDE" is displayed, press FAN DOWN. If "RFA S01 PROGRAM FOB #1" is displayed, press FAN UP button.

IPC will show "0" on right side of Drivers Information Center (DIC) display. Press WARMER button on the climate control unit until "99" is displayed.

Press and hold TRUNK button on the transmitter. While holding TRUNK button, press LOCK button and hold both buttons for a total of 3 seconds. Locks will cycle when programming is complete. If transmitter is not programmed within 30 seconds after entering "99" on the display, system will default and you must begin at step #2 again.
To program second transmitter, press FAN DOWN button until "RF S02 PROGRAM FOB #2" is displayed, then press FAN UP. Repeat step #4.

To exit system, press AUTO, MODE UP, MODE DOWN, or RESET button.

do you mean the digital readings are not lit up or the "Dash Lights" if the display is not lit it will be a circuit board problem.

Fuel Data Center and Electronic Climate Control not funtioning

This is defenetly the BCM, I had a 1990 with all of the same problems. Buy a rebuilt and install it behind the clove box. Remember that you must install you memory prom into the new unit as they don't come with any in them (it is what is memorizing your miles driven.) You will get off pretty easy on this one as they are available and not too expensive.

Instrument cluster went blank

I am currently working on my 92 Deville with the same problem. I was driving along, and smelled what I felt was a smoking printed circuit board. I looked down, and the digital fuel data center and climate control panel were dark.

I have the factory shop manual, and with the aid of a meter and the manual, I traced the problem to a bad BCM. The 16v supply coming from the BCM was gone. Opened up the BCM and found an overheated transistor. I also removed the fuel data center and the Climate control panel. The fuel data center panel did not smell good. I found a shorted capacitor on the Fuel data center circuit board. I am replacing the capacitor, and will be picking up a used BCM at the boneyard tomorrow. I might also have an overheated wire in a cable that might have to be replaced. I have not gotten that far in the troubleshooting yet.

Good luck with your problem.......
