If you had a soft pedal brakes may have little life left and calipers could have over extended causing brakes to drag. Take to a shop and have an expert check it out.

All of them or just one? If it is all of them check the BRK LT fuse first, if that is ok then pull the panel from under the dash and check for 12 volts at the brake light switch connector above the brake pedal, one side should have 12 volts and both side should 12 volts with the pedal pressed, if only one side has 12 volts the switch is defective and you must replace it or the connector to it.

I have a 2002 pontiac grand prix. my e-brake light will stay on when the e-brake is not on.

Check your brake fluid level. Low fluid levels will cause the brake light to come on. If the fluid is not low, there could be a problem with the emergency brake light switch or the brake fluid level sensor.

My brake light on dash came on wit i p under it i pulled my release brake up to make sure i didnt press my brake by mistake but it didnt go off

The most common problem with Fords and the brake light staying on is low brake fluid in the reservoir. Top it off using fluid from a new, unopened container of the grade fluid specified in your owner's manual.

Brake fluid levels go down as your brakes wear....this is normal. Topping off the reservoir should make the light go out, but please be aware that this also indicates that your brakes have worn down some, and they should be checked. If there are any abnormal noises or the car does not stop like it used to, you probably should also have your brakes serviced.

Add brake fluid light on but fluid not low

Sometimes the float in the master cylinder gets stuck and you have to carefully work it up and down with a screwdriver or something. The switch might be bad on the float too. If the low fluid switch is telling the system that the master cylinder is low, that will cause the "Brake" light on the dash, to come on too.

Hi. My handbrake light is on solid. What does this mean? mazda 323f 1998 1.5

check the brake fluid level, if low the brake light will light, if fluid is full then you may have a bad switch for e-brake handle, unplug switch ,if light goes out then switch is bad. also when e-brk is released make sure handle goes all the way down. start there hope this helps.

Brake lights stuck on every now and then and front lights

The brake light on the dash or the brake lights on the rear of the car?

If dash then check the brake fluid. Could be when you move forward it moves the fluid enough to make the light come on. So check and top off the fluid. If really low check your front pads.

if rear lights look at the brake peddle to make sure it is firm and not rudding on teh brake light switch.

something like that messes with the entire engine control system and overpressurizes the inside of the engine. Do a compression test to verify...I'm not there, but it sure sounds like that's what it is!
