Question about 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe

2 Answers

My vechile is a 2002 hyundai santfe and i have 63,000 miles on it. Other than normal repairs or factory recalls. I haven't had any major problems with it.Every time I go to the dealer for an oil change, they shove this long list of things that need to be done at 60,000 miles, costing a total of $800.00. Whats really going on here, because I talk to other people, whom never had there timing belt replaced. My question is do you think it's necessary to have this done at 60,000 miles or should I wait. Is there any proven facts that it's necessary

The reason Hyundai suggest a belt change at 60k is that when it does snap, your looking a $3 to $4000 for a engine rebuild, and in England we have an unlimited mileage warranty for 5 years and the belt/engine is covered, if its changed at the proper time(60k).i think its called insurance, you have to have it,but you hope it never happens...ask someone who has had a belt snap.....any make...
some makers are going back to chains.....

DYIer? Recommend you get a repair manual from your autoparts store. It's easy to refer to if you get stuck. You will want it next time anyway.

I only suggest using factory tune up parts. Don't forget to set you tire pressure according to the driver's door sticker.

My 2007 Kia Optima has 63,000 miles on it. I have had to replace the rear brakes at approx. 25,000 miles. I now have to replace them again at 63,000 miles. The back rotors are warped and need to be...

I had the same problem with my 2007 kia optima. Replaced the pads at about 30k, The pads tend to get stuck and not fully release from the rotor. I took mine to the dealership at around 45k and they replaced the calipers and pads under warranty. According to the dealership the rear brakes are suppose to be serviced every 15k to prevent this from happening

WHERE IS THE FUEL FILTER LOCATED ON A 2004 HYUNDAI TIBURON? WOULD ROUGH IDLING BE A SYMPTOM OF A BAD FUEL FILTER? 63,000 ORIGINAL MILES, ORIGINAL FUEL FILTER

Usually plugged fuel filters and/or bad pumps cause loss of power at the high end (full throttle) when you are sucking down the fuel not so much at the low end.

Rough idles can be a lot of things, usually something to do with the fuel mixture or timings. Dirty injectors, distributor problems, streatched out timing chain/belts... those are a few common rough idle issues.

Has the fuel economy gone down? Does it still have good acceleration?

Peace,

There is oil mixed in with the coolant. It is a problem with the oil cooler I guess. There are lots of Saturns with the same problem beginning in 2000. I only have 63,000 miles on it and am the original...

Yes Staurn should be responsible since it is a peculiar problem with their model of car.

But $2,000 is cheaper than the rate in my own location. My brother spent $2,820 to fix his.

Settle for the repairs.

Sorry about all this.
