Any 4x4 should be trailered, as dammage to the trans or transfer can result, if you have to tow i recommend you remove the drive shafts

2004 gmc envoy xlt wont start security light on

Diagnostic Starting Point - Theft Deterrent
Begin the system diagnosis with the Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent . The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:
• The identification of the control module(s) which command the system.
• The ability of the control module(s) to communicate through the serial data circuit.
• The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status.
The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
your best bet is have your vehicle towed to the dealer or some other qualified repair shop .

GMC Envoy relearn procedure

The modules need to relearn the conditions it operates under. Take both battery cables off and touch them together for several minutes. Reconnect and start the engine. Drive the vehicle 20 or more miles in city traffic. That will relearn the modules.

When i tow my truck, does it count the number of miles moves on the odometer?

yes. The speedo works of the tail shaft revolutions regardless if the engine is running or the vehicle is being towed. It may not if the speedo is through the cpu unit and transmission module with the power off.

Cant find where the mileage is stored

This is right from GMC service repair manual
The vehicle odometer is calculated and stored electronically in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). The base IPC contains a season odometer and a trip odometer. The uplevel IPC contains a season odometer and two trip odometers. Momentarily press the trip/reset switch on the IPC in order to toggle between the season odometer and the trip odometer. Press the trip/reset switch for greater than 2 seconds, while the trip odometer is displayed, in order to reset the trip odometer.
The IPC calculates the mileage based on the vehicle speed signal circuit from the engine control module (ECM). The odometer will display 'error' if an internal IPC memory failure is detected. The odometer displays either miles or kilometers as requested by the activation of the Personalization button on the steering wheel controls.

Hello! Please tow with the front of Jeep at the Pick-up bumper (reverse) Your odometer will not turn (no miles registered for the tow) also, the brake lights should be wired together so you have brake lights on the towed vehicle.Or buy the kit. Put the Jeep in neutral. Chain the front suspension of Jeep so you only have 15-20 degrees movement. Chain the cars together with two different sets of chains- one to the tow hook and one frame to frame. Put a sign and red rag on rear of Jeep. This is a safe tow.

Wanted to know if a 2005 ford taurus could be flat towed behind my r.v?

this should not be a problem but i would recommend renting a car dolly for long trips so you don't rack up all those miles on your odometer. you can rent them at uhaul. you can also check your towing capacity in your owners manual. if helpful please rate 4 thumbs.

I have a 2003 GMC Envoy, trans slipping that I have been towing

Low fluid can cause slipping. (depends upon how low) Most manufacturers post "safe" tow speeds. These are generally ignored. (not good). I recommend towing with driveshafts removed and where driveshaft has a "slip yoke" you install a yoke from a scrapyard and wire it to the tailshaft so it stays in place (keeps oil in and dirt out) Although you can't just detach the tow-bar and drive, it eliminates any possibility of trans damage, since the transmission cannot turn. (most use oil from pump to keep gearsets cool...when towing, pump is not pumping and over time and distance it can damage trans internals.)
Hope your problem is just low fluid and not a rebuild...keep in mind what I said though.
