PLEASE,do not bent it backwards, they are head restraints,NOT headrests,in case of a rear ender.have only done one rav 4 and to bend then takes A LOT OF PRESSURE.......a dealer will not accomodate you or face losing the franchise.....(i sent a client to an independant bodyshop to get hers done)

How do I adjust the front headrest on my 2009 Lincoln MKS so that they do not tilt so far forward?

I turned my headrests backward. Worked great. In fact, I wonder if the engineers designed them that way but the production guys build them backward???
1) Tilt the seat way back to allow room to remove headrests, 2) Press and hold both headrest release tabs at the same time and have someone else pull out the headrest completely, 3) turn the headrests backward and insert into the two headrest guide slots (headrests fit the same either way). 4) No more pain in the neck !!!
Caution: I do not know what this does for whiplash injury protection but it seems OK for my own comfort with the solution. And it beats the pain in the neck caused by the bass-akwards design.

I just bought a 2012 Civic EX-L and my wife has a big problem with the head rest pushing her forward. Our 2002 Accord EX-L did not do that.

Is it possible to swap out the front head rest with a rear one? Sometimes you can't do this as the metal rods for the headrest are spaced out differently front and rear.

You might be able to remove the head rest and reverse it but this would NOT be recommended as the passenger may not have adequate protection in a car accident, the head would pull too far back causing severe whiplash.

Remove chyrsler town & country headrest

Pull the headrest all the way up. Where the two rods go down into the seatback you will see a small hole in each of the plastic mounts. All you have to do is push a paper clip into the hole and lift theb headrest up to remove it. Do this for each rod. To reinstall just push the rods back in. Thanks for visiting I hope I solved the problem for you.

Can the headrest for a 2010 ford expedition be replaced with an aftermarket so not to have that angle?

I know five (5) people who purchased the 2009 or 2010 Expedition. All 100% of them have complaints of the headrest hurting their neck. I know folks that won't even drive their new 2010 Expedition because it hurts their necks, and the dealer won't take it back! If enough people tell ford about the problem, erhaps Ford will post a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to tell dealers how to fix the problem. It is possible to build safe headrests that do not hurt necks during normal driving: just look at the competition. The headrest is not the right equipment to sacrifice comfort. Neck pain causes distraction and is a safety issue. Ford should be as concerned about liability from wrecks caused by headrest pian distractions as they are about the rear impact safety. Complain to Ford!

How to fix 09 accord ex-l headrest angle wife is 5'4 & it juts her head forward she can't use it without pain. what are the options

I bent the headrest posts that stick into the back of the seat - basically a "manual" way of tilting the headrest back. Just don't bend too much or the "active head restraint system" won't work right. I had the exact same problem (I'm 6'1"), now I can drive for more than 15 minutes without terrible neck pain.

Want a RAV4 but the headrests are terrible!

I moved one of the headrests from the back to the driver's seat. Had to open the legs a little bit but it fit.
Something else I found is that if one adjusts the seat so that it cradles one's body, thus maximizing contact between the body and the seat, and then puts the headrest back on it does not pushes one's head forward. Seems they designed it to be driven as if one was sitting on a recliner.
Although one can drive comfortably in that position, the headrest is massive and blocks the view over one's right shoulder.

You can pry them back and they should tilt. Otherwise pull up real hard and they will come out.

How do you remove the headrest on a 1996 ford crown victoria?

Head Restraints Each front seat is equipped with dual-post design front seat back head restraint (611A08). The front seat back head restraint is installed as follows:
  • It travels on dual posts which have notches to engage a spring-loaded catch in the guide.
  • The front seat back spring assembly retains the front seat head rest guide rod sleeve (610A16).
  • The front seat back head restraint is adjustable from its normal position to a raised position of approximately 25 mm (1 inch).
  • Pull up on the front seat back head restraint to raise it. Pushing down will return it to its normal position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Removal
  1. Unscrew front seat head rest guide rod retainers (610A18).
  1. Pull up on front seat back head restraint (611A08). Compress foam in area of front seat head rest guide rod sleeves (610A16).
  1. Remove front seat back head restraint positioning springs. Pull front seat back head restraint up and out.
Installation
  1. Slide front seat head rest guide rod retainers onto front seat back head restraint posts.
  1. Compress foam in front seat head rest guide rod sleeve area. Install positioning springs on front seat head rest guide rod sleeves.
  1. Insert front seat back head restraint posts (notches on posts facing rearward) into front seat head rest guide rod sleeves and push down to engage positioning spring.
  1. Tighten front seat head rest guide rod retainers onto front seat head rest guide rod sleeves.
  1. NOTE: Front seat back head restraint must operate smoothly throughout its range of travel, must remain in any fixed position, and must not be freely removable from the seat back. If any of these conditions are not met, check for proper installation of positioning spring onto front seat head rest guide rod sleeve.

Adjust front seat back head restraint by applying hand pressure, either up or down, to center area of front seat back head restraint.
