Question about 1999 Volkswagen Beetle

How do I locate the number one piston and the firing order on the 1999 New Volkswagon Beetle ? I need to take off the timingbelt to get to the water pump. I need to put the number one piston on the TDC.

To put at TDC, on the transmission housing, where it bolts to engine block, will have a rubber plug, remove and align pre diagram, there are for stander or automatic transmission, the one where you can see the flywheel is stander, or you could align the crankshaft pulley, hope this was very helpful.

The number one piston is near the timing belt. The firing order is 1 - 3 - 4 - 2.

The firing order for 1999 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 liters is: 1 - 3 - 4 - 2
No.#1 cylinder is near timing belt.

#1 cylinder location on 1968 volkswagon bug


As you are looking at it from the front of the vehicle, the firing order works from LEFT to RIGHT, 1-2-3-4-.

You don't have a distributor per se, but rather an ignition coil with 4 wires.

depending on the vehicles engine configuration it should be fuse no. 42 in the fascia fusebox.

Please try this first and drop me a line if it´s not no. 42, i´ll post a complete list and diagram then.

Very common for the coil pack to fail on this model, also the plugs are a pain to change and are often left, try these first.

Looking for the fireing order for a 1999 olds silhouete


"1st coil terminal as you stand at front of car L>R 5-2-3-6-4-1 2nd firing order of spark plugs as you stand at front of car L>R rear bank (1) (towards firewall) 1-3-5 front bank (2) L>R (side to radiator) 2-4-6 (this is for the 3.4L V6--204cubic inch engine) The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 Hope this helps , keep me posted, be glad to help
