I use to have that year explorer and when I replaced mine, I removed the whole assembly and found the wire connections to the light socket all corroded. I would first remove the whole fixture and check behind it for a bad wire or connection before going further. If the wheel-wells behind the rear wheels are rotted at all, then water & dirt are slung up into the rotted area hitting the back of the light assembly.

Need to replace brake light bulb drivers side, but lens wont come off. Is there a trick to this? Removed 2 screws at top of lens plate.

it may be possible that you don't have to remove the lens, the bulb might come out of the light from by turning the fitting & just pulling the whole thing out.......hope this helps......cheers.

I have a 2003 2 door explorer sport, just recently my turning signal and break light have stopped working on the passenger side!! I changed the light bulb, and nothing!! I changed the turning signal light...

No, because the left side is still working. The loose wiring was to the multifunction switch (turn signal).

Power gores through the turn signal switch to the brake switch on the brake pedal, then to the rear lights. Does the highmount brake lamp work?
At the RH lamp socket, Measure the voltage between the RH rear lamp C4032 pin 3, circuit 5 (OG/LB), harness side and ground. Should be 12 volts.

try that first.

Did you change the front and rear bulbs?

2001 ford explorer sport rear driver side turn signal and brake light dont work.

Check the bulbs if the bulbs are good suspect the panel that the bulbs go into. Which are also called the sockets you may have to replace the sockets this is not an uncommon problem.

First check the bulbs, if they're ok.. the stoplight switch is probably bad (located above the brake pedal)

My rear driver side brake and signal light will not work. I changed the bulb and still nothing. Is there a fuse for this light connection?

Yes there should be a fuse in your interior fuse panel that opperates your brake and turn signal. Look in your ford book for the correct fuse or you can use a test light to check them individually until you find the one that is blown.

2001 Explorer Sport ,Rear Driver Brake Light and Turn Sig. Broke

Rear lights are double filament bulbs one side for the lights other side for the brake/turn signals so it still may be a bulb. Do u have a test light or volt meter you can check to make sure u have power there when brakes or turn signals are activated. Or just try another bulb.
