What's the cylinder numbers on a 2002 lincoln ls

4,5,6 V6

5,6,7,8, V8

front to back

#3 is third from front on pass side either motor

Spark Plug is not what causes a misfire, if you have PO303
Bad COP Coil & maybe not the same cyl as the code

Just had a tune up on the car. It has good compression, but it still has 3 codes on it,PO305 cylinder 5 misfire,PO301 Cylinder misfire and PO303.When car is cold it runs fine but once it heats up it skips...

What you got was new spark plugs

They have to be OEM configuration
plugs only

There is nothing to tune-up on your LS

You do not have a bad COP Ignition Coil
on #1,#3 cylinders

You may have one bad coil not 3

This is a problem even for a dealer on the LS

I have a 2004 V8 & understand the issues & how
to solve them

When you drive about 20 miles or more, especially
in hot weather the coils that are going bad break down

Most of the codes you get you disregard.

Your mission is find 1 bad coil.

If you have a V6 your in trouble as the intake has to
come off,so you may as well do the plugs & install
3 new coils v.s what I do on a V8

Then you save those coils for working the left side of motor

You don't need a repair shop.

A coil is $59.00 & takes 15 min do install with a V8
or easy side of a V6

Without fancy test equipment you may have to install
a new coil and drive it a day or so.
Problem still there put back the old coil your did mark it
right, and move the new one, one cylinder.

I could write more but will stop here

2003 lincoln ls v8 has misfire code p0316 wat coil # is it to get it replaced

PO 316 -- is a misfire on the first 1000 revolutions

You get that & sometime a lot of other codes you ignore

You may or may not have PO301 thru PO308 codes
The last # is the cylinder

1,2,3,4 Pass Side
5,6,7,8, Driver Side

Front to back

All you can do is buy one new coil and try it in
a cyl with a code or you may have to walk the
new coil from one cyl to the next and drive few
days in between.

The other choice is a repair shop with an oscilloscope
and the inductive coil pick up adapter
