Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora

1 Answer

Leaking transmission fluid, most seen under left drivers side tire. What could this be? If its the front pump seal, do I need to have the whole transmisssion removed to reach it?? What is the transmission pan? same dilema, would transmission have to be removed?

Well, you have to put the car up on a lift, clean fluid and find out where it is coming from. If the front pump area seal, yes, you need to pull the trans to fix that. If it is leaking from the pan, that can usually be changed without trans removal.

Some type of fluid leaking around the left front tire

Had a similar issue. The leak though, in front of the left-front tire was the windshield washer pump seal. Check to see if that fluid is washer fluid. If so, then thats likely the problem.

Leaking fluid around left front wheel of 2001 Audi A6

If it is near the tire it is brake fluid. The brake fluid reservoir is back by the firewall driver side of engine compartment. Your car uses DOT 4 brake fluid.

Car transmission leak

May need a new bushing in the pump that supports
the converter hub
The new or rebuilt converters don't have very good tolerance
on the hub,they run out
May have to take converter to a shop that does
their own rebuilds on converters, to have hub checked
for run out. They do much better work then say Daco
or other big names in the converter rebuild arena

Possible leaks are 1. Transmission belly Pan gasket 2. Front pump/torque converter seal. 3. Transmission fluid cooler lines 4. Axle seals at right and left half shafts.

My transmission leaks what should i replace

There are at least 5 places on the Automatic transmission that can over time, and mileage develope fluid leaks. Front converter seal at the front of the transmission, pan gasket in the center, dipstick tube o ring at the center on one side ,speed sensor o ring, and the tail shaft seal at the rear,of the transmission.
Place a flat piece or huge card board, under the engine and transmission, after driving you will see where the fluid, red in color is dripping. Its easier to spot exactly where the leak is comming if you can look under the car, while it is running, The easiest leak is the pan gasket, the dipstick tube, and the speed sensor, then the rear housing tail shaft bushing and seal.
If the front seal(converter seal) is leaking the transmission will need removed, and the seal, and maybe even the front pump bushing Replaced,it would be a good idea to replace the bushing esp if it has high mileage,80,000 or 100,000 miles of use.Change the fluid and the filter, while repareing the leak or leaks. Is a good idea.

1991 volvo 240 leaks transmition fluid at a rate of 2 quarts every 50 miles. Is there a seal you can relace or do you need a new transmition?

Check your transmission line's, also look under your car if leaking between engine and transmission more then likely it's going to be your front transmission pump seal, transmission will have to come out to replace front seal.Don't let it run low on transmission fluid or you will have to replace or overhaul your transmission, not cheap.

Tranmission leak, just purchased the van it had been sitting for about 6 months, we have driven it for about 2 days and it started to leak. Dry seals?????

Probably, go to the auto parts store. They sell stop leak fluid for the transmission.
Its really best to get the van over head (ramps?) and look and see the leak and fix it properly. It could burn up the trans out away from home if your not careful.
