How do I change the timing belt assy.

It will be best if you get a workshop manual for the job and it will explain what you have to do and what tools are needed
ultimately you will be spending as much as if you have an accredited workshop do the job
Remember any costly mistakes they make are covered by warranty, where you mistakes cost extra
The only thing you will be saving is the labour costs and as it will take you probably 3 times longer to get it right even that is cheap
Accredited shops will recommend the replacement of cam and crank shaft seal, hydraulic tensioner , idler pulleys and belt which will amount to around $700 dollars regardless of who does the job as this is the job done professionally and it means that you will get the next 60.000 miles or 100.000 klms belt trouble free
Take short cuts ( which you will do to save money)and the job may have to be done again in half the expected distance.

Rods are knocking,

To put it in layman's terms it means tat the big end bearings are shot and it will be new bearings and crank shaft grind which leads to engine rebuild which leads to lots of dollars. I do not consider it a stupid question at all as it is a common statement by "shade tree mechanics" looking to make a fast buck at your expense.. It is best if you have a series of tests done to determine the condition of the engine first. Find yourself an accredited ,reputable mechanic and have the following tests done.1--- have a compression test (dry then wet) done to determine the condition of the rings and bores. IT will also find if there are cracks and head gasket problems( minimum psi should be around 120psi). 2--- have the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge to find the working oil pressure ( minimum idle pressure around 20psi) reduce the engine idle to as slow as possible and listen to any knocks in the motor. Pull the plug lead of each cylinder in turn and if the knock subsides it can be worn gudgeon (wrist pins) pins in the pistons. When you have the results from all these tests you will have a good guide as to rebuild, replace with a reconditioned engine or get a good unit from the wreckers.

Pass door window needs new moter. I need to know how to change it.Can you help?

buy an entire new window regulator, do not replace just the motor. they are fairly cheap on ebay.
have it done at a glass shop, they have the knowledge, tools, and fasteners on hand. costs about 50 bucks to have it done right.

Abs light on in my 2005 town and country

The ABS light comes on when the ABS module detects a fault in the ABS system. There are dozens of component failures and open/shorts in wiring that will set the ABS light, ranging from a faulty wheel speed sensor, open/short in wheel speed sensor wiring harness, faulty hydraulic unit, fault electronic brake control module(EBCM), faulty tone ring, etc. There isnt a relay or reset procedure to turn the light off- it can only be turned off by repairing the fault responsible for turning it on, and then using the factory scan tool to erase the fault code and reset the light.

While it is possible the majority of the faults to be repaired at home, the fault codes can only br retreived with a diagnostic scanner with ABS capability. This has to be done first in order to know where the problem is to either repair or do further diagnostics to determine if it is a faulty part or a wiring harness issue. If the problem is in the hyrdaulic unit, this would need to be replaced by a shop as it will require bleeding afterwards with a diagnostic scanner.

I would advise spending the $50-70 to have the on-board computer read for stored ABS fault codes. Considering that most sensors cost that much themselves, you can quickly sink much more than a diagnostic fee into replacing parts based on "what usually goes out" guesses

Hope this helped (remember comment and rated this).

2001-electrical problem: power windows and radio quit working at the same time. When rear wiper is on the radio will work while the wiper is moving.

it is likely that they are on the same circuit. Most likely the fuse is too small. Otherwise there is a short in the wiring. I also suggest testing any relays with an ohmmeter to determine if it is good or not.

My Dodge Grand caravan (2002) was in a collision. Both passenger doors have been smashed in and the floor inside is rippled- what can I expect the repair costs would be???

It may be totaled. Impossible to say what the cost would be without a close visual inspection, but if the floor is rippled, it will need to go on a frame machine to determine how far off it is, and then straightened. Front axle damage? air bags deploy? That will add to the repair cost. Hope everyone is ok.

1996 Chrysler T&C speedometer and tack not alwasy working

Is the check engine light on?
On or not, you can check to see what the error code is by turning the ignition on-off-on-off-on (do not start) and count the number of times the check engine light comes on. This website/pdf will give you good insight to what can be done with various codes regarding transmissions, which may be your problem. Check your code number and see if it is applicable to the list provided.

Without know much more, I would suggest you replace both input and output speed sensors on your transmission. They cost $17-18 each and at this point should be replaced anyway, especially given the lower cost. These can be done while standing in front of the vehicle. Remove the air cleaner and use a 1" socket to unscrew the old and replace with new. (remove wiring before using tools)
