It depends what sensor, but if you have the check engine light on you should have a trouble code stored in the car pcm. for that you need a scanner. that will tell you generaly what is wrong and what sensor is faulty.

I am not sure what sensor that you are talking about. But you can go to Autozone and have it put on their diagnostic computer for free. It will tell you if all of your sensors are working.

I just purchased a 2001 Chrysler voyager. Check engine light is on. Took to have diagnostics ran. Several for transmission. Drives fine except first gear. Wants to die and sputter. Also, bad speed sensor?...

Most likely on 2000 and newer vehicles specially if the van is still driveable it's the sensors. Get them replaced and if not working then it can be mechanical.

You diagnose the check light issues first
You should have a fault code set
That won't tell you what is wrong ,but will
tell you what system to check out

The TPS Sensor on some vehicles are part
of the data used for shift stratagy

You need a dealer or repair shop with
the proper test equipment

You either have a bad relay, bad temp sensor, or bad PCM. I would start with the relay as these give the most problems.

If you know how to check the fuel pressure check that first if you dont know how, have someone try starting the van while someone hits the bottom of the gas tank with a hammer, if the van starters the fuel pump is the problem
