Hi,

There could be few possibilities for the same.On these models, seat control module are fairly common to fail. This module should be bolted under the seat,it receives a signal from the switch to move the seat in the desired direction. What usually happens is the module freezes up and wont move the seat at all.In some cases simple reprogramming of this seat module will correct this problem if programming is available for it.In other cases the module has to be replaced to correct this problem.

If it has to be either reprogrammed or replaced it has to be done by a dealer because in either case the new or existing unit requires the dealers computer and scan tool to do this procedure.

Here is a tip and temporary fix that may work on your vehicle,I don't have a fuse chart on this vehicle but if you can locate any fuses in the under hood fuse box or the interior fuse box locate any fuses that say seat or similar and remove them for about 5 minutes, even any circuit breakers that say this, then reinstall them and see if the seat operates.

Sometimes this will reboot the seat module and the seat may work normally for a month or two until it fails again and sometimes wont fail at all again.

Other than this, it could be a problem with motor assembly. If that is the case, rather than contacting dealer for the part, try to get it from the junkyard. You would save 80 - 90% of the cost of the new one.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Power seat motor

Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

The driver side power seat button moves forward and backward and reclines, but wont move up or down, the seat is stuck all the way down so i cant get to the wrom gear underneath, how do i go about raising...

I am working on a replacement motor that will come with a new gear/shaft on it. I have one of my setups in the car right now and have the parts for another one ordered. I hope to make a video of the repair in a couple weeks when the parts show up. Still uses plastic gears, but these are larger, more durable gears and the swap is fairly straight forward with just a few modifications.

2002 buick park avenue power drivers seat won't go up or down

The most common problem is the gear breaking under the seat. There is one motor to make the front go up and down and one motor to make the back go up and down. The front up/down motor is the easier one to replace. I have a video of one way to fix the up/down motors. I demo the back motor. 1999 park avenue right front seat will not move up and down. It goes froward and backwards but not up or down.

Either the seat switch is bad or the cable that drives the seat adjuster up and down is broken. It will be easier to check the switch with an OHM meter than taking the seat out I know

Power seat on drivers side of 1996 buick park ave. wont go in reverse every ting else works ok

Chances are one of the motors has gone out. There are 3 motors for each of your power seats. One controls the forward/backward motion, one controls up/down/tilt, and the third controls the reclining seat back. In my '95 model, there is one fuse for the seats under the driver's side dashboard. There should be a diagram inside the fuse panel cover denoting which one controls the seats. Hope that helps!
