Question about 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

I have a clicking sound in the front steering everytime I turn the wheels from left to right, the problem started at 40,000 miles. The car is a Chevrolet Malibu LT V6 2006. I have heard the electriacal system may go out for the power steering, and the power steering also wears down the front steering because the steering column was not made for/strong enough to handle the pressure. Thank You.

Power Steering

Sounds like you have air traped in the system..,ok.try this..jack both front wheels off the ground..with car of off.fill the power steering res..,then turn the steering wheel completely left, then right.do this 5 to ten times.if you have a spotter.they will see the air bubbles ,then the fluid level go down...that is something every mech does before starting the car.. its to move fluid around and to push air out.after doing that, fill, then .start car then check level.

Whining from front left seems to be the tire, steering wheel slightly vibrates when turning left

If you swerve the car back and forth and the sound dissapeers when swerving to the left( reducing the weight on front left tire) this could indicate a wheel bearing problem

Where is the turn signal relay for my 2008 Taurus X?

There is no relay, the smart junction box controls this function.non servicable, closely inspect bulbs and sockets, any voltage drop in the signal circuit can cause this symptom.

Why does my car make howling noise that sounds like its coming from either front right or center of the car, it doesnt pull while going straight, the engine is newer with 40,000 miles on it, the wheel...

You probably have a bad hub bearing. If you can change the noise by slightly turning the vehicle one way or the other it is a hub bearing. If you turn left and the noise is still there then it is the right front bearing. If you turn right and the noise is still there it is the left side.If it makes the noise both ways it could be both front hubs.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I get a squeaking noise when i turn the steering wheel right or left. replaced struts, and stablizer link rod on 2001 ford escape

I have a 2002 Escape V6. I had a squeak when turning... even when standing still. It was fairly low mileage: 40,000 miles?
It was the outer tie rod. You could feel it squeak in your hand while someone else turned the steering wheel.
I disconnected the tie rod. I wasn't worn, just squeaky. I squirted a little WD40 inside the boot, and worked it in. Reassembled and squeak gone.
I bought a replacement tie rod, but never had to put it on. I'm now at 110,000 miles.

My Gm Suburban (140,000 miles) makes a rumble from under the car when I turn left. The noise comes during and after I have completed the turn and sounds like four bumps. I do not have any trouble turning....

It sounds like it could be a worn CV joint (constant velocity) - It's the flexible coupling that connects the drive shaft to a steer wheel.

A good test for this is as follows:

While stationary, turn the steering fully to the left and then pull away slowly. If you hear a clonk, clonk, clonk sound it is a sign of a worn CV joint. Repeat with the steering turned to the right.

This will only manifest itself if drive is actually being supplied through the front wheels. You said the 4WD is not working - Do you know if it is driving the front or rear wheels?

Fortunately replacing CV joints is not too difficult or expensive a job. It would be wise to change both left and right at the same time.

Hope this helps.

Axel Change?

I had the same issue and had it fixed for free based on my warranty. I don't remember the name of the part, but it wasn't the axel. From what I was told, it was a common problem, but not common enough to issue a recall. I recommend talking to a few different Saturn retailers. Good luck.
