Why cant i start my volvo s40 after a battery change

Have you checked your cables? Sounds as though there is a continuity issue, a break in the circuit. And I know through my previous research that there have been problems with the cables on this model.

You might have a bad cable that runs from the shifter to the ignition lock. This is how the gear shift is locked when the key is turned off. When the cable starts to go bad this is what happens. Try disconnecting the cable and then try to crank the car. Good luck.

I own a 1990 sportster 883, when i try to start it, the lights dim and the starter clicks but wont turn over. Battery was at 11.65 volts. I did a continuity check on stator and ignition coil. All was...

Your starter and or solenoid is bad. Get a new starter. And new solenoid if it is seperate from starter. Sounds like starter is causing a short. Had that happen to a few bimes and vehicles i have owned

Hi, The starter on my s-type 4ltr V* is very noisey. The car will not start at all even though its turning over. Could the starter cause the non-startingIt does turn over but seems slow

I does sound like your starter is going bad. You should replace it. It may not be turning fast enough to engage your flywheel. It also may be your flywheel going out. Try the starter first.

When starting car starter turns engine over slow. battery seems to be good unless it doesnt have enough cranking amps. battery test is good altenator working good

It sounds like the battery don't have the cranking amps needed to turn the engine over fast enough. Even though it is starting, soon it will drain more and won't start.

My 95 Dodge Dakota won't start. The electrical seems to be working fine but the engine won't even try to turn over

sounds like you may have a defective starter solenoid, the contacts in the solenoid get burnt and u get a no crank.

Check engine light is on-starter hangs

it does sound like the starter is failing.... the next time it won't turn over.... have someone smack the starter with a hammer...while you attempt to start it... not hard enough to break it tho.

1994 Toyota Tercel Starter Problems

sounds to me that you have an igniton problem not a starter problem and or if you have or had an alarm system could be cause if u do give me feedback and i will explain but seems that your starter is fine from what u say but if you think in terms of the elemts to start a vehicle batery gives pwoer to ignition which sends to starter which gives spark etc i would check you ignition system something is causeing a short and not alowing starter to function
