Question about 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

2 Answers

When making sharp turns backing up or going forwards there is a problem with the front wheels dragging. It seems like the back wheels are pushing the fronts when it goes forward in sharp turns and when backing up it drags them and leaves rubber marks every time. The car was wreaked on the right side but was repaired and the Chevrolet dealer ship checked the aligment and said it was perfect. The car was wrecked when had 3,300 miles on it. It was not repaired until June of this year. The car only has 7,300 miles on it now. This is the only problem that I have with the car.

The year is correct it is a 2005 with 7,300 miles on it. It only had 3,300 on it when I started driving it after it was repaired. FYI it was hit in the right side, where the right door and front fender meet., it did not mess anything up under the hood.

All tires turn free when jacked up and none of the tires are hitting anywhere.

Hi. Check the alignment that was done by chevrolet. It could be wheel alignment. if there are rubber marks on the road everytime you make turns then this could be a problem with the camber. The wheels are toe'd in or out. You might need camber correction for your vehicle.

If that is the correct year would possibly look at the rightside caliper locking up or caliper mounting bracket hitting the brake rotor when turning sharp.

The vehicle has been sitting a long time then without being driven. If you can chock the back wheels and jack up the front end with the truck in neutral and see how difficult the wheels turn. They should should move pretty freely. If they do not you may need to remove the wheels to take a closer look at the brakes. All that time sitting without being driven can easily cause the calipers or caliper guide pins to seize up.If repairs were performed on the rightside would definitely check that side first to make sure nothing was left loose from the repairs. Also when checking this turn the wheels as far as you can before removing the tires and try turning them just to make sure you are not having any clearance problems. Just as a safety note be sure to support the front of the vehicle on jack stands.

The 4wd actuator may be stuck causing the the wheels not to turn. What damage was done in the accident exactly? Did any of the 4wd components get damaged such as an axle.axle tube,or did the front differential have to be replaced? You may have to reopen the insurance claim.

Rear left wheel lockt up

You can adjust the handbrake from inside the car at the rear of the handbrake. All cars are a little different so you have to look around the area. Usually you have to remove a panel there.

Jack up the back left wheel and rotate it by hand. if it makes a scraping sound, adjust the handbrake by turning the left side adjusting nuts.

This may not work if the problem is the brake caliper or something inside the wheel.
hope this helps.

How do I release the lock on my Craftsman belt sander to lighten the belt. It's an old Model # 315.1172

I checked Searspartsdirect.com for that model number and they listed that number, but with an extra 0 at the right end. I couldn't find a belt release lever illustrated anywhere like that on my old Craftsman belt sander. On mine, you just flipped the lever either forward or back to release and tighten the belt. (still works great) There is a spring that pushes the front roller assembly forward when the lever is operated.

You can move the drivers seat back by turning on the power, getting in the seat and position your feet firmly on the fron flor with your back firmly against he seatback, and then engage the switch pushing back - while pushing like hell with your feet. You can actually hear the seat drive shaft turning while the seat moves back. The principle should be the same for moving forward, but pressure would have to be aplide to the back of the seat.
