The procedure to replace timing belt is as follows:--- 1)Disconnect negative battery cable. 2)Remove upper timing belt cover bolts and remove cover. 3)Raise vehicle on jack stand and remove right front wheel. 4) Remove splash shield. Remove accessory drive belts. Remove crankshaft damper. 5) Remove A/C-generator belt tensioner and pulley assembly. 6)Remove generator and bracket. Remove lower timing belt cover bolts and remove cover. 7)Remove coolant recovery bottle. With engine properly supported, remove right engine mount. Raise engine with jack until engine support bracket bolts are accessible. Remove engine support bracket bolts and then engine bracket. CAUTION:When aligning crankshaft and camshaft timing marks, always rotate engine from crankshaft. Camshaft should not be rotated after timing belt is removed, or damage to valve components may occur.
Before removal of timing belt, rotate crankshaft until TDC mark on oil pump housing aligns with the TDC mark on crankshaft sprocket (trailing edge of sprocket tooth).
Crankshaft sprocket TDC mark is located on the trailing edge of sprocket tooth. Failure to align trailing edge of sprocket tooth to TDC mark on oil pump housing will cause camshaft timing marks to be misaligned. 8) Loosen timing belt tensioner lock bolt and insert a 6-mm Allen wrench into hexagon opening located on top plate of belt tensioner pulley. 9)Rotate top plate clockwise until there is enough slack in timing belt to allow for removal. 10) Now refit the new timing belt in reverse order.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

SOURCE: had timing belt and water pump and timing belt

That doesn't sound normal. If it were mine I would be worried that the shop that replaced the timing belt didn't get the belt or the cover on correctly. I'd take it back to them right away and have it checked out because if the belt breaks serious internal engine damage can occur. You may want to call them and explain what you are hearing and see if they even want you driving it.

SOURCE: just had timing belt replaced on 2003 Sebring,

Both options can be true. Rubbing noise is not correct and must be corrected, something is amok.
So is it serious, typically not, but in a worst case deal, your belt could fail and that would render you stuck..

I would need to hear the noise to know for sure, lighter weight sound? maybe you could drive it back. heavier friction sounding? Park it. and call the shop.

When should I change my timing chain or belt on a 1997 sebring xji

change timing chain when noisy and belt around 100.000klm. To do a proper job consider changing cam and crank oil seals. hydraulic belt tensioner and all idler pulleys as oil is the biggest killer of timing belts and idlers work just as hard as the belt

How often do i replace the timing chain 1999 chrysler sebring lxi

The belt is supposed to last for 105,000 miles. These sebring cars are notorious for breaking timing belts well before then. If your car has over 80,000 on it I would schedule a timing belt change in the near future. Don't be surprized if you have to also change the water pump.
