Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Most of the time this is caused by untrue rotors or brake drums. In other words the disc rotor is pumping the caliper horizontally of disc brakes and for drum brakes the inside of the brake drum can be eliptical causing feedback into the brake pedal and a feeling of wobbly wheels. There can be suspension problems but if you do not have any undue wear on the tires then that rules out suspension componenets as a cause.

Most brake shops will turn the rotors on the car now days with special on vehicle cutting tools.but the brake drums have to removed and turned on a lathe. It is something you should correct as it can really effect braking performance and become hazardous as it gets worse.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Kelly

You have warped brake rotors. You can either replace them or have them machined true but it would be a good idea to replace the brake pads at the same time.

SOURCE: C5 wheel is shaking when braking whats wrong

your rotors may be warped. take it to your local brake shop and have them rotate them to check for warpage. Now just go to check them, don't let them try to sell you the whole store. If they are warped, go to napa to get new ones. a lot cheaper to do it yourself.

Honda crv steering wheel shake

great danger there. dont go fast.
can be tires out of balance (tire weighs feel off)
or wheel falling off (ever check the lugs)
tire bad. (bulged, delaminations , man killer tires, like Firestones)
tire rods balls, ready to fall off (more man killers)
ball joint ,ready to fail. and far far worse...
why not get the car serviced, have them check it out before.... bad happens.
noise and vibration or shaking on any machine means , doom is coming. in most cases,.

Steering wheel shakes when braking

Sounds like a warped rotor or uneven rotor surface, could also be a worn or damaged wheel bearing.

I have a 1993 plymouth acclaim 2.5L and when ever I press on the brake, the engine shakes and wants to stall out. Whats wrong with it?

hi.
it sounds like you have a vacuum leak on the brake servo system.
check the pipe between the inlet manifold and the brake servo unit is secure, and not damaged.
as it only happens when you press the brakes, it is far more likely that you have a faulty diaphram in the servo unit itself. the brake pedal can also feel unusually heavy with this type of fault.

hope this helps

When driving my car the steering wheel shakes

If the steering wheel starts to shake between 55-65 MPH then you need to balance the wheels. If it shakes when you press the brakes, your brake rotors are warped and need to be cut or replaced. If the steering wheel shakes at low speeds then it's possible one of your rims is bent or one of your tires is out of round. Leaving a car parked for a long time in snowy and icy roads will damage your tires, causing them to warp. Depending on which situation is causing your steering wheel to shake, have it looked at.

My car is shaking when driving especially when I hit brake pedal the sterling wheel vibrates. What can be a problem?

If the car shakes while you are pressing the brakes, you likely have warped brake rotors (usually the front brakes are the culprit because they provide most of the stopping power and accumulate the most heat). If that's the case, you should have the rotors and pads replaced.

It is a common issue and relatively easy fix.

Wheel bearing?

If it is a howling noise it is most likely your bearing (kinda sounds like an airplane)

You should also check the tires for broken belts and bulges. As well as that they are properly balanced.

Front in shakes bad

Would suggest getting the rotors machined rather than replaced. After the Thickness variation occurs ,then the metal has already taken it's "set" and will stay true longer.
Rotors are cheap now,but go "out of round quickly"
