Question about 2003 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

My 2003 chrysler sebring is blowing gas caps. I guess there is too much pressure in the fuel system. It takes about 3 days after I put a new one on for it to blow the gas cap then the check engie light comes on because it has a vacum leak at the gas cap. what could be causing this?

There is a charcoal canister back that acts as a vent. The canister is plugged up.

It is located on the back side of the hose that runs from your fuel fill cap to your fuel tank.

Gas cap indicaytor light came on. Changed cap and made sure it was tight but indicator light still comes on

The gas cap light is a generic light that indicates an emission problem. Usually a vacuum/pressure leak within the system. The gas cap is usually the first thing to check, however may not be the problem. There are numerous sensors and lines that control the vacuum/pressure/ of the fuel vapors and one of these is loose/disconnected/defective causing this light to come on. I would recommend inspecting hoses under the hood for any that may be loose/disconnected. You may also require a scan test to view sensor data to isolate the source of the light

On my my 2003 chysler sebring the ac blows hot air put a whole can of freon in it and it still blows hot air do i need more freon

Have you checked the refrigerant pressure with gauges? If not, do that first. If there is sufficient pressure but you are still getting hot air, your diverter door for your air handler has stopped moving, probably due to an vacuum leak under your dashboard.

Code po455 2004 chrysler sebring 2.4l sohc G vin code

The code is for a large leak in the fuel tank or evap system.

Some possible cause are - a leaking fuel tank, gas cap, hoses to and from the vapor canister and engine, and a faulty canister.
It's possible a valve is stuck open and allowing the engine to pull fumes in when the system is supposed to be closed, but if this were the case the computer should also set a code for that valve.

Here is the definition.

P0455 CHRYSLER Description The Evaporative emissions (EVAP) system is design to prevent the escape of fuel vapors from the fuel system. Leaks in the system, ca allow vapors to escape into the atmosphere. The leak detection system tests for EVAP system leaks and blockage.

During the self-diagnostics, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) first checks the Leak Detection Pump (LDP) for electrical and mechanical faults. If the first checks pass, the PCM then uses the LDP to seal the vent valve and pump air into the system to pressurize it. If a leak is present, the PCM will continue pumping the LDP to replace the air that leaks out. The PCM determines the size of the leak based on how fast/long it must pump the LDP as it tries to maintain pressure in the system.

My 2007 Chrysler Sebring will not pass smog check . It has 74, 000 miles on it. PQ457 Evaporative Emission System Leak (fuel cap loose/off) PQ455 Evaporative Emission System Leak (large leak) PQ456 ...

This depends on the problem , like a bad gas cap is not covered but so what a cap is cheap, take it to dealer and let them fix it for free or very cheap. most of the time its a valve, purge valve or vent valve, these are covered, take it before you hit 80,000. good luck.

2004 Chrysler Sebring it hesitates when I crank it up in the morning, however once it's been cranked up several times during the day it doesn't hesitate, only on cold starts. What could be wrong

The fuel filter should be changed first.
The engine fuel pressure over night is bleeding down into the fuel tank. I would suggest a tune up . If the condition continues after a tune up. The fuel pump is starting to go. You should then have a mechanic check out the fuel system and have the vehicle diagnose.

My o1 sebring is shacking in low rpm (missfire???)

if it was me i would check all vaccum and change the spark plugs and wire if needed and the fuel filter before you do all of that put some STP in the tank make sure you have over an half tank of gas and if the car try to run better then do all of that remember to take the gas cap off before you change you fuel filter so you do not loose all of your gas
