I just replaced the Acura Mdx 2004 timing belt at the Dealer and was charged 1300 for timing belt, water pump, and spark plugs, was it priced right and should last longer? it has 157,000 miles on it thanks chetan bhalani ]

I just had my 2004 TL's timing belt replaced in Jan 2010 by the dealer and the total repair for belt, water pump and all other normally suggested parts came to $859.90. My car had 139,990 miles and the work was done at the Acura dealer in Jacksonville Florida.

First service tranny ( change fluid and replace filter) go to autozone for your parts.

if the timing belt breaks while driving serious damage can happen resulting in bent valves and busted pistons. most makers reccomend replacements at 70K to 100K. your owners manual should tell you. be sure that you have them replace any othe items that are exposed and readily accessable. ie water pump and so on, to prevent further work later at more expence
