Question about 1991 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

On my 1991 Toyota Camry on the dash the following lights came on; Brake, Charging (showing the battery) and Lights (showing the back of the car). I checked all the rear lights, brake lights and turn signal lights and all work fine, nothing is burnt out. Where should I look now? A short, the brake switch under the pedal?

No break lights in 1991 toyota camry

Look above your brake pedal and you will see your brake switch up along your brake pedal arm. It will either be between the brake arm and the firewall so when you brake it pushes the switch in. Or it will be between the dash and the brake arm so when you brake it pulls the switch out. Most likely this switch needs to be replaced

Charging light comes on and pic of car on dash shows brake lights on. Also when in park both park and reverse lights up on dash

Sounds like a connector on the transmission might have came loose, as far as the charging light you might have a bad alternator, also check the wiring to the fuse panel under the hood, a wire might have came loose there.
