Question about 1999 Plymouth Breeze

Open Question

1996 Plymouth Breeze - Front end grinding / clunking noise. My Breeze is giving me all kinds of trouble and I can't figure out what's causing it. So far I had replaced the following this week. Both outer tierod ends Both Wheel Bearings Both CV joints The upper and lower ball joints appear to be in good condition. Car makes a Clunking noise / grinding noise when turning. The noise is not evident when the front and is jacked up and the car is in gear with the tires moving. It sounds as if something is rubbing metal to metal. But I cannot find any spot where this is occurring. I would go through the through of changing the ball joints but in prior experience it only causes a clunk sound when you turn. Not a continuous grind / clunking while turning. The transmission was 2 quarts low, but 1/2 of this was probably due to the cv joints being replaced.. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

SOURCE: 97 toyota celica outer cv boot replacement passenger side

have you undone the main hub bolt, if yes, there could be two different items holding the cv joint on, one is a small circlip in the joint end, or the other is just like an expanding metal ring again only small. what i had to do to change my one was take the driveshaft out (easier to see whats there) then gently (rubber hammer) hit the CV joint it should then fall off to allow you to change the CV joint. I spent over an hour trying to get the metal ring off, then after taking driveshaft off it was changed and back on in ten mins. Or you can go to a motor factors or similar and get a boot puller, my opinion hammer works better lol

My Toyota vista is making noise when I make a sharp turn what could It be ?,

Depends on the kind of noise. Worn CV joints will make clicking sounds, worn bearings can make whining/grinding sounds. Worn out front end parts can also make strange sounds squeeling, clunking, grating and many other kinds of noises. The kind of noise can be used to identify the source.

Oil on the top of the engine wouldn't be coming from a cv joint.
If you are lucky it's leaking out of the bottom of valve covers. If it's a main seal in the front or back it's a bigger problem.

You can tell if a CV joint is going bad, because it will make a grinding noise/ jerky in a tight turn. They usually go bad after the rubber boot is cracked or torn. If the used one is in good condition it could be used, but if it was removed from another car it may be worn also.
