check that you have compression. check valve timing is correct. check that the distributor is set to fire on no 1 piston compression (180degrees out) check firing order. check all wires and connections are correctly coupled. Check for fuel in the fuel rail (pump working) use a scanner to reset the CPU program as it may be corrupted from a long period without power.

The 1990 XJ6 has been sitting for the last 2 years and now won't start. The engine turns over fine. The dash gages don't seem to operate. I filled the gas tank with 5 gallons of premium gas. HELP!!!

I wish I could give you an instant fix, but I can't. Do you have spark? If so then its either your fuel pump or the CPS, crank position sensor. If no spark then it could be your coil.

I attempted to start my 2005 jaguar x-type, won't start made a clicking noise, dash board lights came on. This happen last week after about 5 minutes of sitting it started.

Mine has done the same thing a couple of times now. We have to jump the battery, but I don't think that's the problem. It slmost seems like the security system locks up.

Just changed out the alternator. car been sitting

Cars that are idle for a long time are often difficult to start.

One solution is to tow them in gear (not so hard on the battery).

Our 1998 XJ8L sits idle for months at a time. Tried to start yesterday after 2 months idle. Turns over but won't start.

Try pumping the accelarator about 4 times before cranking it over. If that doesn't work prime with some fresh fuel and it should start up.

I have had my 2001 S Type for 6 months and had 3 batteries, the one on it now is just about the
biggest I could get but it still went flat when I somehow left an interior light on over night.
