Question about 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

2 Answers

While running at normal temp, my 2003 chevy cavalier's engine will completely shut off. I don't lose power, (the radio and AC and lights still work) but the engine shuts off. I do lose power steering while the engine is off. I have to shift my automatic transmission to nuetral and start the car while driving at any speed from 10mph to 70mph. Sometimes it takes 4-5 trys before the engine starts again. What is going on?

Yep or the coil pack. try bring it to your local auto parts store and have them hook up odb2 diagnostic to it.Organises auto parts they do it for free in most states BUT you might have whats called a drivability/soft code and can be a bear to diagnose but good news GM owner most parts are dirt cheap and and a cooool fix. let us know how u do

SOURCE: I have 2003 chevy impala the transmission starts

Have the vehicle scanned. If you have a code in the computer for maximum adapt/ long shift, replace the EPC pressure control solenoid. This a real common problem on the 4t65e transmission.

Most often when an engine idles fine, but misfires under a load, the problem is spark plug wires. I suggest that's where you start.

the a/c light will stay on and this is perfectly normal. when your heat is on the compressor is not running. the a/c doesn't come on unless you turn your dial to cold.

Hey I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier when I turn the car off the radio is still on I can turn the radio off when the car is off is that normal?

This is completely normal, and is a feature included in many new cars. The logic behind it is that you may want to continue to listen to the radio for a bit after arriving, but would not want to keep the engine running. The radio stays on until you take out the key or open the door to get out to allow you to hear the last part of that song or that news story you were listening to.
