Open the hood. As you look at the engine the water pump will be on the right front side of the valve cover. This is the easiest water pump to replace in the automotive industry. It runs off a small belt that is driven by the front cam shaft. There is a small plastic cover over the belt. Good luck.

Hi, i would check the thermostat first unless the water pump is leaking as the water pump is where the timing belt is is the timing belt needs removing to get to the pump, take the thermostat out and place it in a tub of boiling water and check if it opens up if it dont then it will need replacing.

you need to bare in mind that it could also be head gasket failure so make sure you get this tested if the thermostat is found to be in working order.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

If water pump is old, like over 70,000 miles on it,replace it when you do the fan belt and tensioner.
A new thermostat and a radiator flushing might also be in order. don-ohio (:^)

If you just purchased this car used and it was your first winter season driving it,l check to see if a thermostat is installed. If not installing one will help for your heating problem and will increase your gas mileage 10 to 20 percent more

1996 Jaguar XJ6 heater does not heat. It just blows cold air...

All cars have what is called a heater matrix , this car has, it is inside the car behind the dash, the purpose is to provide heat in side the car, if the car is running at normal operating temp you thermostat is ok, the heater in the car is known as a heater matrix and will block up due to lack of use as water on passing throu when you have the heat on in side the car , hence the water leaves risidual that blocks it, if you keep a good level of antifreze/summer coolant in the systym it will prevent this, it is also the first palce to be affected when you lose water from the cooling systym, i will foward the detail how to clean it out, as removal is very labour intensive,

Water pump location on 1996 chrysler concorde 3.5 mfi engine

On the 3.5 litre engine for this model, the water pump is located behind a large cover that is bolted on the front of the engine directy opposite of the fan. The pump is not visible or accessable unless that cover is removed.

NO HEAT AT IDLE

I would almost garuntee you have a bad water pump. When water pumps get old there turbines can wear off and even though they may still be there they want be as efficient. When this occurs you can normally rev the vehicles r.p.m. to about 2000 rpm and the heat will start working.
