You need to go to www.alldatadiy.com and look at recalls on this problem These units had problems on computers and you will have to have the vin to verify and the computer code. Hope this helps thanks for using fix-ya. If you have test equipment to do testing let me know and I can help you do a pin out of the PCM, Check the body ground strap to motor with a ohm meter and be sure there is less than .002 ohms resistance between the frame and ground to battery.

Have seen this be a problem when the battery cables were fuzzy. Have seen more than one tranny rebuilt or replaced because of bad contacts. make sure all of your connections are clean and dry.

Where is the oil pressure switch on a chevy silverodo 2006.

What engine size , because could have come with a few different ones ? Engine oil pressure sensor is a input to the PCM - engine computer . This will turn on check engine light if thier is a problem ! What is the problem your having , oil light on , oil pressure gauge not working ?
Engine Oil Pressure Gage
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine oil pressure as determined by the powertrain control module (PCM). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the engine oil pressure. The engine oil pressure gage defaults to 0 kPa (0 psi) or below if:
• The PCM detects a malfunction in the engine oil pressure sensor circuit.
• The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the PCM.

2003 4500. Why have gauges stopped working?

You could have anyone of a number of different problems . I know your year vehicle falls in the range of GM instrument culster problems . There are little stepper motors ( electric motors ) that make the gauges move . There could be DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the instrument cluster . An you have to know how the instrument cluster knows how much to move the needles on the gauges . All the input sensors to the PCM/ECM - engine computer vehicle speed sensor , fuel pressure , oil pressure , etc... All the modules on the truck are hooked together on a serial data communication network .The PCM/ECM sends this information out on the data bus for the other moduels that need the info .
Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Gage
The IPC displays the engine oil pressure on the analog EOP gage as determined by the PCM. The PCM monitors the signal circuit of the EOP sensor. When the EOP sensor resistance is high, the engine oil pressure is high. When the EOP sensor resistance is low, the engine oil pressure is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the engine oil pressure. The EOP gage defaults to 0 kPa (0 psi) when the following conditions occur:
• The PCM detects a malfunction in the engine oil pressure sensor signal circuit. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster .
• The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communication with the PCM.
Speedometer
The IPC displays the vehicle speed on the analog speedometer based on the vehicle speed signal from the PCM. The PCM converts the data from the vehicle speed sensor to a 4000 pulses/mile signal. The IPC uses the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM in order to calculate the vehicle speed.
The powertrain control module (PCM) creates the vehicle speed signal by pulsing the signal circuit to ground at a rate of 4K PPM. The instrument panel cluster (IPC) converts the 4K PPM signal to a speedometer position. The IPC also receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating the vehicle speed. The IPC uses this class 2 message for diagnostic purposes.
There could be up to twenty different DTC'S stored ,here is an a for instance
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTC B1365
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) uses the ignition 0 voltage circuit in order to supply voltage to various indicators and gages. The IPC also receives a class 2 message from the serial data gateway module (SDGM) indicating the current power mode. Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to the Dealer or an ASE certified independant repair shop .

My 97 4l auto is not shiftin thru gears quick enough in the mid range, any advice?

Common problem is govenor pressure sensor and the govenor solenoid. With a scan tool you can see gov pressure and desired gov pressure. Govenor pressure should almost match vehicle speeed ( 15 mph = 15 psi ) . If govenor pressure is eratic or high or low in rlationship to desired gov pressure replace the sensor and the solenoid. Will need to pull the pand to do this.make sure when you check the fluid you check it in NEUTRAL with the engine running and not park.

I SCANNED MY MALIBU & GOT A P0108 WHAT CAN I DO TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM

It could just be a bad signal from the MAP sensor or a poor connection at the sensor. Or a bad MAP sensor itself. Maybe the vacuum line is off or broken.

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the changes in the intake manifold pressure which result from engine load and speed changes, and converts this measurement into a voltage output.

A closed throttle on when the engine is decelerating would produce a relatively low MAP output, while a wide open throttle would produce a high output. Manifold absolute pressure is the opposite of what you would measure on a vacuum gage. When manifold pressure is high, vacuum is low. The MAP sensor is also used to measure barometric pressure under certain conditions, which allows the PCM to automatically adjust for different altitudes.

The PCM sends a 5 volt reference signal to the MAP sensor. As the manifold pressure changes, the electrical resistance of the sensor also changes. By monitoring the sensor output voltage, the PCM can determine the manifold pressure. A higher pressure, low vacuum (high voltage) requires more fuel, while a lower pressure, higher vacuum (low voltage) requires less fuel.

A high or low voltage fault in the MAP sensor circuit should set a DTC P0107 or DTC P0108. If the MAP sensor sends an intermittent zero voltage signal to the PCM, a DTC P0106 will set.

Engine won't start. Turns over just fine. 12 engine codes P0141,0422,0562,0201,0202,0203,0204,P1553,P1403,P0444 and P0135. P0141 is a repeat.

CODE PO562 SYSTEM VOLTAGE LOW.THIS COULD BE THE PROBLEM.YOUR ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING.NOT ENOUGH POWER TO RUN THE PCM.HAVE YOUR CAR CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKED.

1998 Dodge RAM 1500 won't upshift, slips out of gear

have you dropped the pan to see whats the bands are set at, any debris in pan bottom, whats your governor pressure, if bands are ok, but gov pressures are not relative to speed 1 psi per mph up to 95-127psi, port is on pass side of case rear top right, scan tool would be very helpful, your must have mil light on for this problem, gov dtc's, replace gov transducer as gov solniod as a pair, no exceptions, also are there any 02 sensor dtc's, shorted to voltage, this wil make pcm do stupid things to trans shift, affecting gov signals. GOOD LUCK RDJRP

The governor pressure sensor is the most likley cause however an inspection of fluid or debris in trans pan would be a good idea to make sure there's nothing excessive in it. Attached is a list of possible causes however the senor would be the most common.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Powertrain control module
  • 5 volt supply circuit open
  • Check transmission fluid level and condition
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit shorted to voltage
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit shorted to sensor ground
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit shorted to ground
  • GOV pressure sensor signal circuit open
  • Sensor ground circuit open
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit shorted to voltage inside transmission
  • 5 volt supply circuit open inside transmission
  • Intermittent governor pressure solenoid
  • Internal transmission problem
  • Oil burnt or oil pan has excessive debris
  • Other transmission DTC'S
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit shorted to sensor ground inside transmission
  • Valve body
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit shorted to ground inside transmission
  • GOV press sensor signal circuit open inside transmission
  • GOV press sensor ground circuit open inside transmission
  • Governor pressure sensor (high)
