Question about Ford Focus

Open Question

Focus 2009 usb/ipod not connected, comes up on sony headset when clearly it is connected even with the proper ford ipod usb ,aux line in short cable.Usb port if little else works ok as a charger, very frustrating. Connectivity occurred once on version 3.0 and 4.0 for a couple of times but now just charges ipod. Aux line works, but i would like control over the ipod. I feel i have paid for something that i am not getting full use of,bearing in mind Fords Sony audio are tied to ipod

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: iPod connection problem with Ford Focus

I think you have to connect both the line-in to the earphone-connector and the USB to the USB-connector on the iPod.
Don't ask me why, but that seems to work (according to another Dutch forum http://www.focusclub.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4201&sid=be5c9f538bd310a274324907aff98513). I haven't tested it yet (don't have a line-in to line-in cable).

SOURCE: My Sirius Satellite radio and ipod interface

Hi! If thats the case then the satellite radio and ipod port is faulty. There surely are loose wirings and blown capacitors inside that will need repacement. You can take it to an audio electrician for this will require an onhand trouble shooting expertise. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

SOURCE: I have a 2007 Ford

Hi, usually there is a 3.5mm stereo jack input for the aux. If it isn't on the front of the unit, it is probably hidden somewhere in the truck--like in the console (that's where it is in my wife's 08 mustang). If your owner's manual is correct, it shows a picture of the jack near the cigarette lighter. See picture below. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa!

I own a 2009 Hyundai Elantra and was told I could plug my iPod into the iPod USB port using my iPod cable (Apple's). However, neither my iPod Touch or iPod Nano work. Once connected, it just says "Reading...

I have used the Apple iPod cable with no problem in the Elantra USB port with an iPod Nano & iPod Classic. You have to change the music settings, skip songs, etc. from the iPod which is distracting while driving.

I purchased the cord made by Hyundai at the dealership, that plugs into both USB and aux port. The music titles, album info etc show up on the radio screen, and you can use the buttons on the radio to change the tunes, view artists, albums... (safer while driving!). I've seen sellers on eBay that sells the Hyundai made one (cheapest starts @ $24+ w/ s/h - link here) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-HYUNDAI-2009-09-iPOD-INPUT-USB-AUX-AUDIO-CABLE_W0QQitemZ230379648893QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Audio_Video?hash=item35a3b2777d&_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116, as well as copycat ones - I wouldn't buy a copycat one (my opinion).

Do you have a case on your iPods? I have experienced the "reading error" with the Hyundai cord on my son's iPod Classic (he has a leather case on it). It seems to do that because the plug going in to the iPod is not making full contact with the iPod because of the case. When he takes the case off and reconnects, there are no further problems.

Hope this helps, Good luck!
