Question about 2007 Audi A4 Convertible

Open Question

I have 2007 Audi A4 2.0 T - - Quattro... It is burning oil and not leaking that I can find visibly. It seems not to have full power and occasional white puffs of smoke out of the exhaust. I cannot smell radiator fluid in oil... but the white smoke smells that of hair... possibly CAT? or maybe Valves or Turbo failure? How do I know... My warranty is up... no check engine, YET!

SOURCE: turbo= not working

Most likely the turbo is gone. What ever part of the turbo went, just replace the entire turbo. Not serviceable 99% of the time. The engine will not like being driven for any extended period of time with a bad turbo.

SOURCE: 1996 audi a4 transmission hard shifting

Get the transmission scanned at the dealership. If it has incorrect gear ratio code stored, it needs a transmission. Only the torque convertor or valve body can be replaced for any repairs at the dealership, so it needs to be diagnosed correctly. Any authorized ZF transmission repair shop can also repair them, more than the Audi dealerships can, so thats another alternative.

16619 -Engine boost condition - Limit not reached. Check intake hoses/ connections for leaks. Check Turbo charger waste gate regulating valve/ waste gate working correctly. Must move freely when accelerating, won't achieve full boost if waste gate sticking open. Check Turbo impeller turning freely, oil feed pipe for turbo can get blocked causing impeller to seize. Engine compact, not easy to access these components.

the magic fairy appears to be at work ,if its not leaking then its burning it ,which means valves guides or rings are worn ,and with your enviromental disaster monster engine you would not notice the loss in power in such a small vehicle ,we pull 40tons of loaded truck here with a smaller engine in europe

hi tina
it might be a few things unfortunatly, 77k is not much for these cars but allot can go wrong with them, i can start with, valve guid seals these tend to wear arround 100,000 but deppends on use, wether hard driving or town, so you could be getting close to these, you can also check visually if there is another leak from the valve cover on the rear side or this might just be ressidue from the previouse leak, sometimes the smell of unburnt fuel can fill the car if the wind is blowing in opposite direction when standing still can fill the cab with fumes dont worry only minor, it possibly is the cold air rather than smoke condensation from the exhaust is warm and hitting cold air will do that, it dosent realy sound drastic and just keep an eye on the fluid levels as you are doing but i dont think there is much to be concerned about....hope this helps
